excelsior BSN?????????

In the School of Nursing Catalog, there is a section on program time limits and average time to completion. For the BSN program, it actually says five years for part-time students. Remember though that EC programs are largely self-paced. Lots of RN-to-BSN students are going slowly because they're working and aren't urgently looking to make a change.

I'm sorry, but if you are already an RN I think 4 years for a BSN is nuts unless you plan on going very part time through the program.

I think what it is saying that you have to finish in 5 years or I think you have to pay the enrollment fee again.

OMG!!! I just read that a BSN from Excelsior takes 4-4.5 years???? Is this true??? I just starting investigating the colleges. Soooo confusing. Do I want to go from RN-MSN or just get my BSN? I don't know. The thought of going back at all is making me kinda sick. Maybe I should just move to a State that actually hires ASN's. I earned my RN through Excelsior, and wanted to stay with them, but 4.5 years. I don't have that kind of attention span.

WGU can be done in 6 months but it doesnt transfer?

Statistics-,expo writing, upper level ethics???

rn-bsn completion programs are nothing like initial school. I did mine thru Univ of Wyoming and it was very painless. good luck!

I am completing RN to BSN through Excelsior having gotten my ADN from a traditional community college almost 20 years ago. Like many students I had worked on some courses towards my BSN back then but I still had about 20 credits left before I was ready to take BSN level nursing courses.

I started this last January with courses like English and Statistics and was able to start my first BSN nursing courses in May. If I continue on schedule I predict to graduate next August. I will admit I have not been tackling this at a part-time pace having finished 31 credits since January. The advantage with Excelsior is that one can do some courses online while studying for some courses that will be credit by exam either through Excelsior or through DSST or CLEP.

Sadly, Excelsior is changing more and more of their courses from test by exam to online courses that often cannot be done in less than 15 weeks. Sorry, but I'm in the middle of a 15 week course right now that seems it will never end. After I finish the 2 courses I am in, I will have 2 more courses to complete (which should be by exam) then I will qualify to take the capstone course.

I think there are better and worse ways to go about getting one's BSN. Excelsior is working so far for me, but it has been hard work and I'm sure there is plenty of more hard work to come.
