Hi everyone,
Just graduated in June and will be taking the NCLEX soon. Several of my friends took a review course and the instructor suggested this book and I have found it to be a wonderful study guide. It has many of questions as to who you will assess first, what task will you delegate to the LPN or UAP. The book also provides rationales at the end. Could be a great help since I see the test is alot of prioritization and management of care. I found the book at Barnes & Noble. Here is the information...

That's good ... I'd still recommend SAUNDERS though . :nurse:I did the CD religiously and surely helped me make it!!! Good luck to you.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
I have read Saunder's and totally believe that will help me. I combined this guide since the focus was on management of care. I have heard quite a few people swear by Saunder's. Congratulations for passing boards!!

I have SAunders 2nd ed. Are the questions on that CD the same as the 3rd ed??? I don't want to go buy a different book at the last minute. Any input?

I found Saunders to be very good for content review; that is, if you need more practice on basic knowledge-based questions.
Once you're comfortable with that, however, Kaplan, has questions that go far beyond that, into strategy. Critical thinking questions. Makes you think more like the NCLEX.
A friend of mine took a Saunders review course and they made her feel pretty ready for exam. She failed, but I'm NOT going to say it was because of Saunders. Plenty of people succeed quite nicely with Saunders and/or Lippincott's. But if you are scoring well there, you might want to consider trying some Kaplan tests and seeing how you do. I routinely got high 70s-90s on Saunders and yet would barely scratch the 60s in Kaplan. Made me work harder :)
I have the 3rd edition of Saunders so I'm not really sure if the 2nd edition is any different. If that is what you have then I would cover that one along with the CD that goes with it. I have been doing more practice problems out of the prioritization, delegation assignment book and I am now beginning to feel more comfortable with who would you assess first and delegation questions. This was an area that I felt uncomfortable with and am now having confidence when doing the practice problems. The book is a short read...and I have found it to help me tremendously!
I ordered a 2006 NCLEX simulator CD off of ebay that states something about Kaplan review. It weights the questions similar to the NCLEX and is supposed to help prepare for the exam. Does this disk sound familiar to anyone?

Hello:
I have been reviewing Saunder's questions, and feel more comfortable, getting about 70 to 80%. But on kaplan 60%. I am taking the exam in week and half. what are your suggestions?

I think that the Saunders questions are much different and easier than the NCLEX while Kaplans are closer. Try Mosbys book too, I saw one NCLEX question almost identical in their book.

I did nclex on 7/15/06 and I can surely say Saunders, saunders, saunders, is the best way to go, if you want to be a nurse.

Kayla, did you get your results?!? Congratulations!!
I didn't do Saunders...Kaplan all the way!! I had 75 questions, mostly prioritizing, delegation, and infection control...and PASSED.
