ERI's NET Study Guide worth the $30?

Personally, I don't think it's worth it. I bought it when I thought I had to take the NET (then I didn't apply to that school, so I never took it). Anyhow, it's this little tiny book and half of it is "test taking strategies."

Also, the stuff on the NET is pretty straightforward, so I think you could probably save the money and just find problems online to work. I will say, though, that the reading comprehension help seemed to be fairly decent--and most people think that section will be easy, but it actually trips up a lot of people.

Still, if I had to make the choice again, I don't think I would buy it. But I suppose it depends on several factors: how much is $30 to you (can you spare it)? How well do you need to perform on the NET? How are you testing right now? FYI, you can take a practice test online (it might cost like $15, but I think that is worth it because at least you know how prepared you really are).

Oh, and I just thought of this one--if your school requires it, then they might have a copy available in the library or learning center that you could look at. Good luck!

Yes its worth it. There are only 2 practice test for each reading comp and math but it helped raise my score 10 points. Definately worth it IMO

Speaking as someone who took the NET and who bought the study guide, it's definitely worth it. If you can get it for less, great. If not, order it from Amazon and choose expedited shipping so you get it fairly quickly. It will really clue you in to the type of questions on the test because it's written by the same company/people that make(s) up the test. And when you do the practice tests, set a timer! That's very important, because the reading comprehension section in particular can trip you up, time-wise.

I got a composite score in the 90s on my NET, so I can verify that prepping for it really helps, even though the math and reading *seem* easy. It's really the time factor that can get you if you're not prepared.

It completely depends on your math and reading levels. If you are already really good at fractions, percentages, and basic algebra - (5x-3 = 12; what is x?), then you may not need the study guide. They have a practice test on their website that is $15 if you want to take that instead. If you feel you need to brush up on your math and practice your reading comp skills, then yes, it is definitely worth it! Good luck!!

Well...I just ordered it. I assume that i can sell it online after I'm finished with it anyway. And im sure theres some value of knowing exactly what the format of the questions will be on the actual exam.

The NET was a lot different than I thought it was going to be. The math questions were basic multiplication & division questions, fractions, decimals, etc. (Ex: 0.144 + 1.34 = ? and 1/4 x 2/3=?) Just study that & you should be fine. The reading was also very simple for me. Just basic reading comprehension. Half the test was personal questions about study habits, learning, family life, etc. (Ex: I have close friends I can talk to. True/False. I study best in a group environment. True/False) It was really much easier than I thought it would be!

and it really helped me with the math stuff. It also gives you tips on reading comprehension. Since there is no essay portion of the test, you really just need to have good test taking skills.

You should go & talk to the college you plan on attending. They usually administer the test.

I personally don't think the study guide is worthwhile. I didn't purchase it and I still thought the test was EXTREMELY easy--especially the math. I think someone posted a link to this before, but http://www.testprepreview.com/net_math_practice.htm is EXACTLY what I saw on my exam. They seriously ask you to add numbers together...I think that's back to elementary school math. The hardest thing was the percentages, but brush up a little on that and you'll be fine.

Other than that, I feel like you can't really study for the reading comp, vocab, etc. sections--either you can do it or you can't.

That's just my . I personally, wouldn't spend the $30 and just look online for free resources--they are out there! I could have done with one or 2 days of studying and it would have been fine. So no worries!!

Thanks. I ordered the study guide and its a bit helpful in a reassuring way. Nothing in it is complicated, but its just nice to know exactly whats in it. And in no way is it like the lsats. But yea....I'll be selling mine in a few weeks after i take the exam so if you're interested, send me a PM! I promise that ill keep the study guide in mint condition!
