whether you are doing teas, hesi or another enterance exam they all have similar questions. so i thought it would be nice to start a thread about study tricks or reminders for learning material.
i am trying to memorize conversion charts. so i came up with a cute little version of the song how much is that puppy in the window. :heartbeat
1 gallon is 4 quarts in my refrigerator (how much is that doggy in the window)
1 gallon is 128 ounces (the one with the waggley tail)
1 quart is 2 pints & 1 pint is 2 cups (how much is that doggy in the window)
1 cup is 8 ounces (i do hope that doggies for sale)
i cant figure anything out for memorizing
1 kilogram = 1,000 grams
1 gram = 1,000 milligrams
1 liter = 1,000 milliliters
oh here is another one
conversion formula for temperature (this is from my lpn book)
to convert from f to c
f - 32 divided by 1.8 = c
convert from c to f
(1.8 x c) + 32 = f
military time conversions
if under 9 am add a 0 to the front
if over 1 pm
add 12 to the time and there ya go!!!!
exception midnight 2400 or 0000 depending on the book or person or whatever
noon - 1200
anyone have any other suggestions or tips they use to memorize this stuff? songs, rhymes, silly sentences, etc. anything helps!!!!

I had my entrance exam yesterday, and it took just under 4 hours to complete. Some of the areas did not count towards the nursing exam, which I am still wondering why I had to take the tests, but that is for another day.
My main concern going into the test was math, since i've been out of school for quite awhile. I'm a visual learner, so I did some searching on the internet, and found http://www.teachertube.com. i went down the list of topics (listed below), and watched multiple videos on each topic until i was certain i got the main concept. I'm sure they have videos on other topics, but i was mainly concerned about math.
Suggested Topics of Study (for Math)
Algebra (simple equations, solving for the value of x)
Decimal to ration
Decimals divided
Division and Subtraction
Division of Fractions
Multiplication of Fractions
Subtraction of Fractions
Addition of Fractions
Meter to Kilometer
Ounces to Gallon
Ounces to Pints
Percent to decimal
Percentages
Ration-Proportion
Roman Numerals
If i can remember anything else, i will update my post.
