Duke 2014 Accepted

Hi All, accepted to Duke NP program for Fall 2014, anyone from the West Coast, Oregon area? trying to finish preadmission stuff, can't complete the MAT plan until new curriculum is out, noticed some classes for Distance Based are only in certain semesters, so have to be very careful with picking your classes. It looks like I will have a full load the 1st semester with the current schedule plans. Trying to knock out Pathphis and Nursing Research, now not sure they will transfer over. :roflmao:

jules2,

Where are you in Oregon? This is so exciting. How did you see the curriculum? I have not yet been able to find it. I know I have taken graduate courses from another university and they do not transfer over.

I cannot yet send personal messages. Is there a way to send an email to contact you directly? I am not sure if I would get in trouble for posting my personal email address.

Julie

You're both from Oregon and named Julie? That's so cool lol.

I don't think the new curriculum is out yet. Not until May.

While AN doesn't say you can't post your e-mail it is strongly discouraged. While AN is anonymous it is public and subject to the same spam bots that all other sites and can be viewed by the general public.

yep your are correct futureeastcoastNP, not till May, talked to my academic advisor, she said slow down grasshopper.... :)) although the preadmission paperwork gives us deadlines, we can't complete the MAT until new curriculums is out. which says in the paperwork May. I think it is awesome found a classmate locally. how ironic.

thanks Esme12 for your concern, already have my spam folder ready :)`

Hello Ladies! Congrats on being accepted!!! I am also from Oregon and have applied to Duke for FNP. Do you mind sharing if you interviewed in person, by skype or phone?

Thanks!

congrats, Hope you get in. I interviewed in person. I start in the fall, going in August for orientation. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks jules2msn. Good luck in August!

Hi Jules,

Congratz on being accepted! If you don't mind, can you tell me how rigid the program is? I realize it will vary per individual. I'm just planning on how many hours a week I should set aside as a part time student for classwork. Also, did you have to invest in a test proctoring service?

Thank you kindly!

Hi Jayne, don't start up till Fall 2014 in Masters program, so can't tell you much, based on another graduate program, you need 20 to 30 hours of time for school work and reading, but I'm going fulltime. No word about getting proctoring software, I don't think that is something they required, that as asked during webinar, and I believe the answer was no. Hope that helps, happy studying!

Got it! Thank you kindly Jules. That certainly helps. Happy studying right back!

Jayne
