DUKE ABSN Fall 2012

Hi all!

Just wanted to start a thread for the people applying to duke for the fall of 2012. I am super excited/nervous to be filling out the application! I know that there are others out there feeling the same way. If anybody is willing to comment I would love to hear from some people who have applied, accepted or denied, or applying right now, or even going to apply in the future. :)

ABSNhopeful, I'm sure you're fine if you've talked to admissions... I am taking two pre-reqs right now, and M told me that I don't have to send Duke a transcript until I have my final grades (which will be in the middle of December), and that my application is complete without that transcript. I think as long as they have your undergrad transcript, they're happy. :)

ok cool! thank you for the reassurance. i emailed her again just to double check that my application will be reviewed! i would hate to have them not even consider my app because of a missing transcript!

Happy application deadline day everyone! Hope everyone got all of their materials in on time. Now we just sit back and patiently wait (for hopefully some good news)! Sending lots of positive thoughts to those Duke admissions people right about now :)

I applied as well! Good luck to everyone and hopefully we'll hear in the next few weeks whether we have an interview. That'd be a great early Christmas present!:)

Hi Everyone-

I applied as well, and am excited to find out about the interviews. Has anyone heard how many applicants they have this time? It sounds like it is a big group again....M said that they have a big back log of documents to enter. One of my references still shows incomplete, but she assured me they have it....just not logged into the system yet.

Good luck to all of you!

No idea about # of applicants... Maybe if they have a big group they'll let in more people this time? They let in 90ish people a few cycles back. Wishful thinking on my part, lol! Anybody have a reason to email M and want to snoop? ;) Good luck to everybody! I just need to make it through my two finals now...

Hello everyone!

First of all, good luck to all of us! I'm an applicant from Seattle, WA. Just wanted to let everyone know that my transcripts were received and entered but my letters of recommendations have not. I have also been told there was a high volume and that as long as they were post marked by yesterday (12/1) I'll be fine. The interesting part is that one of my transcripts was sent along with the Letters of Rec so they must be entered separately. Well, I guess I'll get back to refreshing my application to see if it's been updated! :D

Have a nice weekend!

Hi everyone!

I also applied. Does anyone know the time frame for hearing back about an interview?

Just checked and they've received all my documents thankfully!

I'm hoping we hear about interviews relatively quickly as they did last year. Last year they heard around 12/17 I believe.

12/17 is so soon! Ahh could be a good or a bad Christmas! haha. I still have one transcript out that wont be submitted till my class is done! Good luck everyone.

Maybe the 16th this year because the 17th is a Saturday? Getting my stiff drink ready now... ;)

So while we're waiting to hear about interviews, what's everyone's age, location, and story?

I'm 21 and will be a graduate of the University of Kentucky here in a few short weeks! My degree is in Biology and I originally planned on doing Med School, but I realized over time that Nurse Practitioner was more suitable for me. I'm a people person and I don't really want the lifestyle most doctors live as far as family and such. I've applied to a couple of schools but Duke is definitely towards the top of my list. I have a pretty ordinary GPA at 3.495 (Organic Chemistry's are killers!!) and a pre-req GPA of 3.8 as I work on my Micro next semester. I have some hospital volunteering and an amazing camp experience at a place in North Caroline called Victory Junction (for kids with different disabilities and illnesses). How about everyone else? I'm hoping my GPA and age don't keep me from making it. This program sounds so amazing!!:redbeathe
