Araks,
I would not sweat it to too much. If this is your first offense then they will usually just chalk it up to a mistake, make note of it and go on. I think if it happens again then you might be in for it, but here in Texas they would just maybe fine your license and make you attend AA meetings and possibly some kind of OP rehab.
I would talk to my lawyer about what needs to be done with the board, he might know or at least know of someone who can help you out when dealing with the board.
Good luck to you!
Recently, I was arrested for dui in florida, was in the car in the parking lot in front of a restaurant with attempt to call friend to pick me up, wasn't even driving. What I should do about Florida BON, I have a lawyer for DUI, not for the board, and how it may affect my license renewal? Please, if possible for you guys, don't dive me advice about drinking habbits, I am grown up men and drinking socially like a lot of people do, never "drink and drive." I am 45 years old and have been practicing nursing for more than 2o years, so nursingt is my life. So, please if anyone had a similar experience, i would like to get the practical advice. Thank you so much in advance.
You are a very brave person for broaching this subject on this website--hats off to you, if you are telling the truth. I can honestly see why you said "please...don't dive me....", because i've only been on this site for about a week and i've seen how cruelly some of the people treat others in their posts. Take a deep breath; you will probably be fine; and if you explain exactly what happened to the nursing board- in letter or in person -you probably will be let off the hook. Just make sure you are extremely vigilant about not being in your car after drinking, even if you are parked. My sympathies to you for having to go through all this.
questions we seem to be encountering more and more often have to do with the effects of a criminal history on nursing licensure:
these are questions that the members of allnurses.com cannot answer. the only reliable source of information is your state board of nursing.
if you are currently licensed as a nurse and have been charged with or convicted of a felony or misdemeanor including dui/dwi or any criminal offense, you need to contact the bon in every state you hold a license/wish to be licensed and ask their reporting requirements.
we wish you the best of luck.
Thanks for your support! I feel totally devastated, 'cause it's never happened before, and I've never been arrested for anything and especially for abusing alcohol neither used any drugs, as I said, have been drinking socially like civilized people. So i dont need "lessons" from peers - how bad alcohol is, cause I passed the legal age long time ago and alcohol is a legal product. Everything is good as long it's legal and in moderation. So if somebody wants to teach me, please keep it to yourself. Anyway, thank you so much for your kind words.
