Do You Get Shift Differential?????

4.00 hr for nights and i believe 2.00 hr for weekends

are you an RN? The pay seems low to me and I am in Texas too. We have differentials, but we discourage doubles and no one is scheduled to work doubles. There is a diff for 3-11 p and 11-7 p. Also for weekends IF you work more than the 2 required by everyone. Another diff is paid if you work outside your service line.

Just a thought, here in Australia - Basic pay plus 50% loading from midnight Friday to Midnight Saturday. Basic Pay plus 75% loading from Saturday Midnight to Sunday midnight. Weekday nights Basic plus 15% loading, and

Afternoons Basic plus 12.5% loading.

This is for Most areas of nursing, including Aged Care!

Basic for RN at the moment in Aged Care is only AU$21.40 per hour!

How does that compare with USA - should I think of transfering?

OUCH! At our hospital you get $3.00 if you work only an occasional weekend. $5.00 if you commite to one weekend day a week and $10.00 if you work every weekend like this poor child in Texas. You guys need to raise a stink!

Our weekend and off shift differentials are only .75 and 1.00, but it seems our base pay is higher. We also have Baylor...they work 2 12 hour shifts and get paid an extra 8 hours..the 12's are on weekends.

I work 2-10 and weekends - no shift differential here!

thats kind of extreme! I guess i should be greatful for the shift diff that we get on the weekends. weekdays on night shift i think its $3.50 and from 7-3pm weekends it's like $3.50, from 3-11 p its $5 and the best yet is 11-7 a its $7.

I work weekend doubles, 32hrs a weekend. I work Sat/Sun

7a-11p. This is considered FT in Texas. I make 21.50 an hour. I do not get weekend differential or evening differential. I am wondering if any of you get weekend, evening or night differential?

Yes my hospital pays a 4.00 an hour weekend diff, 3.oo for eves and 3.50 for nights. You are clearly not getting paid enough.

Since you work those 32 hrs in such a short time, do you get paid for 40 hrs(ie the Baylor plan is what it was called when I did that in LTC years ago)? If you get paid for 40 hrs, that may be why you don't get shift diff. We didn't get shift diff either. I now work for the State in group homes. LPNs and direct care staff get 50 cents/hr Mon-Fri if you work any time between 6pm and 6 am. RNs get $1.00 or more. On weekends, everyone gets paid shift diff for any hour worked on the weekends.

Shift diff = 15% of base pay for hours worked between 1500-0700.

Weekend diff = 25% of base pay for hours worked between Fri 2300-Sun 2300.

We get both diffs if we work weekend nights.

For me to move to a day slot would mean a 30% pay cut due to lack of diff.

I work weekender program meaning that I work EVERY weekend but get every 8th weekend off. Any weekend hours I work I get an extra $5/hour over and above any other differentials. For us, it's $4/hour nites, $1.50/hour weekends.
