This is my story
On Tuesday I went to the nursing school information sesson at my community college. It was made it clear that the nursing program is not as hard to get as people think. Last year she turned away only 6 students and the year before that she accepted some out of district students. Also, the tution for the acctual nursing classes is going to increase from 64.00 a credit hour to 164.00 a credit hour. So I figure that this could turn off more students from applying. I could apply for the Fall of 10 but this is going to be work.
Summer 09
1 1/2 of summer
Remedial English 8 weeks
Biology 101 5 weeks
Pre-Algebra 5 week online class
2 1/2 of summer
Psy 101 5 weeks
Algebra I 5 weeks
2 part of Remedial English
Fall 09
A&P I
Chem 110
English 101
I would have to get a 3.5 G.PA on Psy 101,English 101 and A&P I in order to get all 4 points, No W and no D's and F's Will be another point and do well on the entrance exam. Do you think this is doable?

Yes, I think it's doable if you are the type of person who can stay dedicated with your studies and not get burned out quickly. Those summer classes are going to be really busy. I would check with your school's advisor to see if that kind of course load is recommended. Usually advisors have seen it all and have a good feel for how well the average student fairs with these kind of things. If s/he strongly recommends you take a lighter load, I would definately reconsider. On the other hand, it sounds like there isn't a lot of competition to get into the program, so it would seem like as long as you can get passing grades and a good entrance exam score, you should be fine.

Sure! you can do it. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is pre-Algebra a requirement to take Algebra? If not, I would jump right into Algebra and skip the pre-Algebra (or are you wanting an A in that class to help bring up overall GPA?) You'll do awesome either way!

that seems do-able. Do you have the time for it? I personally wouldn't working full time nights... I would worry about the fall 09 classes.
But go for it!

I am in a similar situation. I will be taking Eng. and Bio. this summer. But I plan on taking A&P, Chem, and Nutrition in the fall. This is just so I can apply for the fall 2010. My adviser said I should be fine taking A&P and Chem together. Good luck.

Sounds like we are in the same boat. I am applying to my current school for the fall 10 year and I have to have BIO 111 for another school that I am applying for because I want to increase my chances so for this fall I will be taking:
BIO 111 genaral bio
BIO 168 A & P I
CHM 131 general Chemistry
PSY 110 life span development
Mat 070 intro Algebra
on top of that from Sept. through Nov. I will be taking my CNA course as well!
I had a full course load last semester and I have 3 kids...well 4 counting my DH lol! I managed to come out with a 3.4 which is not where I want to be but is still pretty good. So if I can do it, anybody can. I am aiming for at least a 3.5 this fall, but I will have to work my butt of to get it. I am already looking into books off of amazon to help me.
this is the book I will get (for A & P I ) along with Vol. 2, you can get them used for 20/piece. Reviewers have raved how these books have helped them to get A's.

For Chemistry I am looking at this one because of such great reviews

Anyway you can do it!! Good Luck to us both!!!

I think it's doable, The Chem and A&P together might be a little tough and stressful so prepare the best you can for that. Since you will be doing English with it as well it's just more of a load but 2 science classes like that together can be tough but doable. I took A&P1 and Chem together and A&P2 and Organic Chem together.

I wanted to take chem and ap together for the fall, but I am quite terrified now haha. You'd probably do much better than I would, though. Good luck. :)
