do you have a back up plan in the event that you do not get that all important acceptance letter?

what are you doing while you are waiting for the letter, do you think about it all the time or do you not even think about it?

Last semester I took a course to become a CNA so I guess that is my back up plan if I don't get into nursing school this fall. That and just finishing up some general ed. classes. It's so nerve-racking waiting to find out though, but what can you do. Good luck!

i have already completed my physical, only have one shot left, and i am scheduled to get that in april. by then, i will know one way or another and can get started on all the rest of the stuff. like the background check and buying all the goodies i have been drooling over for the last month.drooling-5.gif

i am still trying to come up with a workable back up plan, i was going to go ahead and start the emt basic program, but it spans the whole summer and when i do get accepted, i would have to drop out. so now, i guess, i am going to wait and see, then make a decision.

i decided to sign up for three summer courses but they will be over before the program starts so i am okay there. i guess i will try the emt route in the fall or maybe cna, if i don't get accepted.

As a mother... I feel like I have a lot riding on "the letter". However, if I dont get accepted, my plan B is to work on courses towards the BSN program. Another way to go is to try to get into an LPN/LVN programs, then work your way up to an RN.

I am apply two two private schools that don't have pre-req requirements, but I am also apply to one CC that does. I am two classes away from their pre-req's being done so I am looking at Jan 09 admission to the CC. If I get waitlisted ( they put you into the next block starting if they fill their spots and you are qualified) then I can take all the rest of my co-reqs too. That way when I am ready or I get that letter to start perhaps all I will have left are only Nursing Core classes each semester and perhaps a lighter load so I can excell. Well thats my plan A & B

i guess i never really thought about a back up plan, but i do have a plan. if i don't get in to ns in the fall of 09, i will just continue to take courses that are required for my adn and continue to wait until i am able to attend ns f/t. i just can't take any actual nursing courses until i am accepted, but could knock out the gen eds. it would be just that much less i would have to take while taking nursing courses.

If I don't get into an ASN program then I will go for my BSN. With all the college I already have including an AA degree, I would only have two extra semesters to get a BSN, so I am not too stressed. I already have worked as a medical transcriptionist for 17 years and already make what a new graduate RN does, so its not as much of a financial thing for me.
