I have a question I have just found out that CA BON does not accept Excelsior. Do they accept Indiana State University? Has any one from CA done the LVN to RN through them and then took state boards? I keep getting mail from them and I am wondering if I go through them will I be able to take boards in the end.

Someone else correct me if i'm wrong here. I looked into the mailorder RN programs also before applying locally. Californias stance as of 2 years ago was they will no longer accept ANY mailorder RN programs. Their reasoning is that they are unable to rely on any consistancy between the differant programs and are unable to really on the amount of actual clinical experience each student recieves. But most ADN programs im aware of will let you jump into the 3rd semester of the ADN program if you have completed all the pre-req's for said course

I did hear that from our DON when I started school in Sept 05, but worked with a nurse yesterday that said as of Feb of this yr they allowed a program to come back, but everything she has is from the publishing co TCN, I do not know what school she is actually enrolled in.

Why don't you contact the CA Board of Nursing directly and ask them?

Good work, Tracy.
Thank you for the info. :) In my previous searches I've found that SSU has actually stopped their LVN -RN or BSN program. They just do RN-BSN. The other two programs are for BSN. not LVN-BSN. I did't know Southwestern and SDSU were associated with the OSU program. I know they are running the online BSN thru Sharp Grossmont. I guess you go thru one of these colleges then.
For myself I am looking into National University LVN-BSN program. (not online) I know they do have a lot of online nursing courses though.
SSu may have stopped thier lvn-bsn program and maybe that is why they are partnering with ISU. I think if you live in CA you will technically be enrolled in SSU but courses mey be from ISU....
LVN to BSN online program - Sonoma State University (SSU) in partnership with Indiana State University (ISU). For information regarding this program, please call 1-800-496-9613.
The other if i read it right state that you have to have a previosely obtained BS in order to enroll.

SSU stopped their on campus LVN to RN BSN program, but have now partnered up with ISU for the distance online LVN to RN BSN program, officially since 2007. Its on the CA BON site, under approved programs. The Oklahoma Univ program thats partnered with SDSU and Southwestern, I heard was going to come to an end soon, thats just what I heard nothing set in stone though.

you are correct about the OU program unfortunately. The last cohort started Spring 2010.

Last year, WGU began their BSN prelicensure program in the southern CA area. Their website is Online University | Online Degree | Accredited Bachelor's and Master's Degrees . One can enter this program if they are a CNA, LVN, or other type of health professional. Their last cohort started nursing classes in April and the next cohort is slated to start in September. Tuition is $4250 for six months, making this a very affordable option.
