Difficulty Swallowing question

Every now and then I feel like my esophagus is closing up and I have a lot of trouble swallowing.

This is NOT an airway problem; when this happens, I can breathe just fine.

Bearing in mind that I'm not asking for a dx, I'm just wondering if it's something I should talk to the doc about or just continue to ignore it, as I have for about the past year.

What are some of the things it could mean?

Stress does that to me. However, i also went to the Dr., you know, just in case. ;)

No advice here, but I have a friend who has had that happen and she has to get her esophagus stretched.

I've felt in the past like something was caught in my throat, but nothing was. A doctor told me it could be caused by anxiety. It must have been, because it went away on its own. ;)

Are you allergic to something?

Gerd??

esophogeal stricure is common. You should see a gastroenterologist. If indeed this is what you have they can do a dilitation via endoscopy.

Don't know if its the same thing or not, but sometimes I'll be eating and it feels like all peristalsis has stopped in my esophagus. The food just sits there. Sometimes it will pass on its own, other times I need to throw up. When it is happening, not even saliva will go down.

Had it looked into, had allergy testing done, had an upper G.I. - all negative. But can tell it is very much related to stress.
