Did your nursing program require letters of recommendation?

Or a form or any sort? I'm racking my brain to find 3 people for some of these programs. Don't know if I want to just not apply or what:o. Seems like most schools do require a couple, right?

Mine didn't require any, just a high GPA and a good essay.

I heard that the schools like to see teachers a lot more than employers. Any truth to that? Or do they not really care..

I had the high school teacher about 6 or 7 years ago:o, think that's too far back?

Are you applying before you've taken your prereqs?

I'm applying while I finish them up. I would ask one of the professors in my classes this semester, but all but one are online, and the other is a pretty large group of students.

It's not some monolithic "THEY." They are simply people, who all have their own values and things that they consider important.

I have had the opportunity to look at my admissions packet and can say that, in my case, letters from my bosses were very important... more so than letters from teachers (of which I had only one).

The bottom line is that they're trying to get a sense of who you are... you need to help paint the picture for them. Part of how you do that is to provide references from people who know you. Employers, teachers, volunteer coordinators, clergy... all people who can speak to your work ethic, judgment, critical thinking skills, maturity, personality, etc.

Mine required three.

My program did not, but for scholarships it is required for 2 letters. Don't let that stop you from trying to get in. I don't really have much of a work history so I got mine from my A&P1 and 2 teachers. I would suggest that if you're not planning on applying right now, just look into doing good in your pre-reqs and getting letters from those teachers since it does apply for the program.

My program only looked at my GPA and transcript. Are there any professors you would feel comfortable getting them from..or even your lab teachers?

If you go to a church, getting one from there might work too.
