Who all is still around that will be applying for Fall '06?

I picked up my Algebra book and I'm trying to study from it. It assumes you know so much already. I'M SCARED!!!!!!!! I hope I don't end up with worse than the B I already have!!!!! uggggh

Good luck to you all!

You are going to get an A. Stay focused and practice a lot. :)

Did you get a CD with your book? I had one and I used a lot.

Thanks, LKG6. I know I have it in me, but the stress is on! lol Algebra hasn't ever been my friend. :chuckle In fact, Algebra should be banned because it isn't user-friendly! :clown: :roll

I did get the CD's with it, but I haven't popped them in yet. I didn't know if I should wait until the class started or what.

I looked at the course calendar. The class starts on the 16th, and the first test should be completed by 12/19! uggggh!

Week 1: 12/16: Test 1

Week 2: 12/19: Test 2

Week 3: 12/26: Test 3, Midterm @ NLC, & Test 4!!!!!!

Week 4: 1/02: Test 5

Week 5: 1/09: Test 6

Final @ NLC by 1/13

Our "Week 1" is 2 days?????? Two tests, plus a midterm all in one week?

How I'm going to be sane come January 13th is beyond me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll just have to stop :chair:,

look more :specs:,

to be a :nurse:!

I CAN DO IT! I CAN DO IT! I CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!

I think I am frozen...but other than that I can't complain I don't guess.

As for Algebra, if I can get an A..then ANYONE (including you) can get an A. I took 2 years in HS, 1 semester in college, transferred, took DMAT 0099, and then took College Algebra again and got an A. :) Before DMAT 0099, to me College Algebra was like trying to learn a language that I didn't know a single word of. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I know, I can't stand this cold weather!!!!

I know y'all have to keep telling me the same thing over again about my Algebra class, and I appreciate it so much!!

I hope you both are right!!!!! One bad thing is that my kiddos will be home for Christmas break, so I'm going to have to work something out. ....Maybe have my hubby take the kiddos with him when he leaves in the mornings. (We have our own biz, so he can do that..lol)

Anyway, the kiddos are back in school today, so I'm spending the whole day studying!!!!!!!

Thanks for the confidence!!!!!!!!

Fun,

Hey girl! I know if I were taking a make-it or break-it class in Algebra, I would go buy "Algebra for Dummies" or "CliffsNotes for Algebra". I did that for my NLN entrance exam. I bought a seperate notebook and wrote down all of the formulas in red ink. Below that I wrote out one or two practice problems (straight from the book) in blue/black ink. This helped tremendously when I had to figure out what formulas to use and how to work them into the problem. It took me a while to do, but it was a lifesaver. I scored in the 98th percentile for algebra on the test.

Allow yourself to grow (don't tell yourself you can't do it). Then step out with faith!

Woogy

Ya know, I've seen one of those books at Wal-mart, and now that I've I need it, I can't find it. Well, I didn't see it at the Wal-mart I went to. I have to go to the Wal-mart I saw it at to see if they have them still (a bigger store).

Thanks for the advice on the notebook. I'm pretty sure the formulas will be on the exam, but we have to know when/how to use them. I know the quadratic formula, discriminant formula, distance formula, slope, etc, but I'm only working on the review chapter.

I don't even know what's to come. I see things on the calender that scares me: log, determinants, matrices, etc. I'll have to look into those things this week before my class starts next Friday 12/16.

I'm thinking positive, but this is definitely a make it or break it class!

I have do this, I can do this, I will do this!

Here goes my own advice in use, using the children's book, The Little Engine That Could, I think I can, I know I can.......the rest is To Be Continued! :lol2:

The key is practicing. I cannot stress enough. My algebra class was two months long and I spent as much times reading, practicing, breathing, doing algebra as A&P. I didn't use any other book, but I completed most of the algebra problems from the book. It was time consuming.

You can do it!

Katie

I was wondering, was your book the one that was $12.95...I think it was a-z Math something? I am trying to buy my books for spring (algebra) but my section isn't listed yet.

I'm taking an online class. The book and software was $71.40 + tax. ($12.95 for a book? WOW!!)

Try e-mailing the instructor to see if they will tell you which book they require for the section you're registered for. Make sure you give the section and say that it is for Spring '06.

I had the hardest time trying to get info for my nutrition and history 1302 class for Spring...One of the instructors kept trying to give me information for the winter-mester classes. :uhoh3: I guess she had winter-mester on the brain. lol

Good luck in your Algebra class! :)

Thanks alot =] I still have my notes from last Fall when I took Dmat 093 so I hope to be able to use those notes. Good Luck to you - I am sure you'll do fine after making an A in Chem. =]

I guess I should wait until after finals week....maybe they might have more info next week. If that is the book they are using I will be so glad because when I took math the last time i spent over $100 on the book.

Books are ridiculously priced, I think. Hubby has a different outlook on it, "You can't put a price on learning." ....or some irritating comment like that. :chuckle

(Except when we are near broke, and he has pay for the books.) :chuckle :chuckle

The bad thing about the online/computer based class is that you can't resell your book because of the software. I don't understand why you can't resell it, and allow the person who buys it just to purchase a new license for the software. Maybe buying a new license wouldn't save you much money. :uhoh3:

I appreciate the confidence. I think I'm 95% ready for the first two tests! :) e094.gif

Unfortunately, there's 3 before the midterm. lol I'm going to look at the third test chapters today. Hopefully, I already know that information, or at least 'remember' learning it, so that it will be a review.

I know that 2001 wasn't that long ago, but a lifetime ago when I haven't been doing Algebra problems on a daily bases. I do remember a bunch though, so that's good.

I'm still trying to find rhyme or reason to some of the questions that ask to find the domain and range.

I understand with a problem like: y = x + 3, the domain and range are both "All real numbers", but I still have to figure out the reasoning on problems that have a square root, etc.

I'm getting there.e136.gif I'm going to bust my butt to make an A. I was proud of my B in 2001, now I'm going to be extremely proud of my A!!!

(I really think I repeat myself over and over again when talking about this Algebra class.....SORRY! e082.gif
