Good luck on your Algebra! I know you can do it! I took Algebra online during the summer and my husband is the reason I passed it - he is an Electrical Engineer and basically taught me everything. We went on a huge family vacation with our kids and every night we put the kids to bed, got out his laptop computer, and worked on Algebra. Real romantic vacation for us needless to say!!

I am planning to take the NET the very first part of January - right after my kids go back to school and before I begin next semester. That way I will have December (after this semester) to study for it and not have A&P to worry about too!

I may have no chance of admission for Fall 06 since I will be taking Micro and A&P II in the Spring. They may need those hours included on my transcript to help me with the "ranking" and "tie-breaking" process! Oh well, if I don't make it, I'll take my Spanish (elective and something toward my BSN like you are! But after taking the "fun" classes I would dread having to take History or Government:barf02: . Sorry I've always wanted to use this guy

So what part of the reading was the hardest for you? In the study guide that I have (it is a generic study guide for all the different nursing entrance exams), I would agree that the "Reading" area is very hard. I have only looked at the Synonyms, Antonyms section and many of the words they use I have never heard of!

I took it online last time and made a B, but I was working then. I also took it because the school I was working at was paying for it. I didn't have the "GOTTA GET AN A" mindset like I have now!

As far as the NET, it is main idea, purpose of the writer, and something like what would happen next. It's not "Dick sees the ball"..."What would Dick do next?" type questions though. LOL

It does involve more in-depth thinking. I do recommend buying the "NET Study Guide" though from Eriworld.com. (or Ebay or Amazon.com....wherever.)

If the Fall '06 application period is from November 1st - February 28th, how can the 6 month limit on the physical be done? Doesn't it have to be w/i 6 months of the expected entry (August)?

Thanks, amyindallas. I've been working on slopes, y-intercept and x-intercept this evening. Hopefully, I can get my book this next week and start practicing out of that. I think I'm 'about' ready. I will be when 12/19 comes around. :)

I'm taking it online through NLC, but it doesn't have a faculty name yet. When I took Algebra in 2001, I had Thompson, but she said she wasn't teaching the winter-mester online class.

I will post any information I get about the physical. :)

I am considering the DCCCD Nursing Program and from what I understand, DCCCD's Nursing Staff and their curriculum is tough on their students. I am curisous to know if any of you are willing to share whether you will be working a job while in nursing school or have another system of support. As I have been off and on with my decision to become a nurse over the past seven years...I have become very frustrated, but I cannot seem to shake the desire to become a nurse. What's holding me back at present is working full time and all of the wonderful expenses that come with it. :angryfire

A friend of mine is in El Centro/ Northlake's nursing program, and she failed the 1st year because she was working a part-time job. She is now doing well in all of her classes because she quit her job!! I am planning to start nursing school in January at El Centro via distance learning. I work for Harris Methodist Fort Worth, and they offer a program designed for working individuals. OK, I've found out about the physical for the Fall '06 application.

Pam Farley at ECC, said that if the "physical is dated in January 06, it would still be considered current for a Fall 2006 entry to the nursing program."

Hope this solves everyone's health physical problem, now to conquer the winter-mester.....COME ON 12/19! :chuckle

Can someone tell me if Brookhaven accepts applications only 1 time per year? I heard someone talking about this but she didn't sound completely sure. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks in advance!

I knew you said you were taking Chemistry....how did that work out for you? I am now thinking I might need to take that class. Can you tell me more about the class you were taking...somehow I thought you said it was online...I tried to find the post but I could not..there are SOO many posts in this thread! I have never really had a chemistry class. The only thing I had was an "Into to Chemistry and Physics" when I was a freshman in HS I think. I always took the Biology classes. Is chemistry anything like Biology or A&P? Was the chemistry harder than A&P? Of course, I need to get an A!

As far as BHC, I think that they only have one admission.

With my chem class, I didn't take it online. It was a 8-week General Chemistry class taken at MVC with J. Fox. It is the one required by UTA's RN-BSN program, but not the same as BHC or TCC. TCC said they would not accept the gen. chem. BHC said they would, but I didn't get that in writing....and ya know how that goes! lol

The Algebra class I am taking during the winter-mester and the Spring semester's History 1302 and Nutrition 1322 are all online courses. :)

Maybe that's why.

When I was 18 (or so), I actually did get accepted to UTA, but I couldn't afford it. So, here I am, looking at them again. It's actually closer to me than many other nursing schools in the area, and hopefully, I'll be working in Tarrant county as an RN!!!

Again......back to reality, I need to get accepted first. :chuckle
