When you start classes in the spring at Northlake ( cause we all know you will get in ) please let me know how the classes are - like time wise so I know if I should wait another year or not. Like how many days a week and from what time to what time. I plan on getting all my pre and co-reqs done like you did and I plan on starting in the spring. I am just curious to see what the schedule is like with just the core nursing classes.

I know....it keeps hitting me that I've actually applied. lol It always seemed so far away, now October 15 seems so far away. :chuckle

I just hope I get into NLC. I'm used to that school, and it's closer to me than ECC, and the traffic, and the parking, and, and, and, and.....lol

I have a friend that got accepted to NLC its first semester. She went 1 semester, but couldn't go back due to monetary or personal reasons.

She said they did labs/class for the first 6 weeks. Then you start clinicals. I wish we all had more of a guideline to go by....I'm still wondering what kind of shoes, and what kind of watch to purchase! LOL

Yep. She said you get check off of 3 out of 6 things before clinicals. (vital signs, physical assessment, and med administration)

I guess the other is things you experience on the floor.

They start you pretty quick in clinicals at El Centro and Norhtlake. That is why I like the program so much. You really get a lot of clinical time.

Lalajenn, it is funny that both of us are considering joining the military after we get our RN.

Brookhaven is even tougher than El Centro and Northlake.

Is anyone gonna apply to Brookhaven along with the other program at El Centro?

I plan on going to BCC. I'll start my pre-req courses Spring next year... Oh, Gosh, so they're even thougher than the other?! Yikes!

The worst of all is that I have to work full-time while on school...

Well, as far as shots, etc. I am going in with the attitude that I don't know a thing. I want to learn everything new and fresh. (Make sure I pay attention just incase there are new methods, etc.) :)

Anyway, yes 6 weeks is going to go by fast when we are actually in the program. I can't wait! :)

I will be applying to the Jan 06 EC/NL program. I have completed all the application requirements except the NET. I have an appointment to take the NET on Tuesday and will turn in my application at that time. My first campus choice is EC because I live in Mesquite. Parking is expensive in the West End where EC is located so I plan to park on the east side of downtown (some lots are only $.50 all day) then take the train to EC because full time EC students can ride DART for free.

I have a 3.77 on my pre-reqs (got a B in Algebra), and I have completed 6 hours of support courses so far. I hope that is good enough to get in. If not, I will apply to fall-start programs at EC, Brookhaven, and TVCC.

Currently I am registered at Eastfield for A&P II, Spanish 1411, and Chemistry 1411 this fall--all are 4 credit hour classes.

Quite a Fall schedule you have there. You will be busy.

I used to take the TRE in from Irving to Union Station downtown then take the DART light rail one stop to EL Centro. It was not too bad and the train ride for me was relaxing. It was nice having the free DART pass. As a student I could use the gas money to get to work rather than park or drive downtown!

Good luck to you txkat!! Wow I didn't know that east side of downtown is cheaper. I will have to try that because I plan on going to EC. Good luck with your classes! I am also taking SPAN 1411 but I am taking the telecourse and just taking CHEM 1405. :)

I emailed Tricia H. at Brookhaven and asked her about the Chem class (taking 1406 or 1411 instead of 1405) and she said she didn't know that she would have to forward my email to admissions, and that they would have to decide. I would prefer to take 1406 because if we move and I have to go to TCC then that class would transfer.

I guess I will find out next week some time.

Oh yeah, do you know or does anyone know if in the nursing program at ECC or brookhaven, if you are just taking the nursing courses is it like 8-5 or 8-3p?

L&D4ME....one class at a time or not, keep it up. It will pay off at the end....just watch out for the 5 year rule with your sciences!!!!!

As for chem, if you haven't had chem yet, do not take 1405. Take a higher one such as 1406, or 1411. I am taking 1411, and Brookhaven said they would accept it because it is a more advanced course than what the require. (UTA's RN-BSN requires 1411 or higher.)

I moved to Tarrant county, and pay out of county fees now to DCCCD. I've always went to NLC, or another DCCCD campus since I graduated high school. I just feel more comfortable there.
