It's going fast, yet toooooooo slow!

I agree! I try my best to put it from my mind, but I'm always reworking what I'll do if I'm rejected. I only took two classes this semester, so I feel like I'm on vacation and the time is just creeping along. On top of all this, I can't wait to quit my job of 17 years and get going with my future plans.

I wish they'd send the letters out early!!!!! One minute I think I'll probably get accepted and then the next I've talked myself into expecting to be rejected. I'm so excited about getting started.

Leave it up to me to keep reminding everyone exactly how many days we have! LOL!!! 3 weeks 1 day, hopefully no more than 2 weeks, though!

Wow, I can't imagine quitting a job after 17 years...that's going to seem a little strange to you. Hope you don't get up one morning & drive to your old work, just out of habit. :chuckle

I have two classes this semester as well for my future RN-BSN, but only one at a time. (CHEM ends Oct 21st, and MUSI starts Oct 21st.)

Although, CHEMISUX x 10^10000000 lol! It is definitely keeping me on my toes. I'm hoping the music appreciation class won't be so hectic, so I can relax a little.

I thought I had it figured all out. I am not going to apply until 2010 when my youngest start kinder, so I figured that I would go ahead and take the pre and coreqs for both el centro and brookhaven. I am not sure if I should do this or just take spanish for the last two years that I would be waiting. On one hand, if I finished all the classes for both programs, i might stand a better chance of getting accepted on my first try( but only if I keep my grades up. Patho, dosage calculations and the other 2 classes - I am not looking forward to these classes). On the other, if I take spanish and become more fluent I would possibly earn more money in the long run ( this would also allow me to keep my gpa up since I understand more than I am able to speak). Any suggestions?:selfbonk:

That's hard to say. If you take coreqs for Brookhaven, then they won't count for DCCCD. (Unless they will accept them, I'm not sure...)

Spanish is always a plus. I haven't heard anything about nurses getting offered more money for being bilingual, but it may help land a job easier. I'm a "una palabra a una vez" type person. I can understand some, and I can speak some, but it can't be rapido!!!! lol

Good luck in whatever you decide to do. Either way, I guess if you do the Patho and Pharm for Brookhaven, and it doesn't count for DCCCD, then at least you will have an idea of what to expect for those classes at DCCCD.

Well Brookhaven is a DCCCD school.

I know they have their own nursing program, but the General Ed classes (Psych, Algebra, English Comp, Speech, Microbio) you should have no problem tranferring.

it is the individual nursing programs that decide what they require for a degree from that school. I wish they were all on the same page, but alas!

In truth they don't actually "transfer" credit between DCCCD schools since they are all technically a part of a big consortium. You know, one-school-in-seven-locations.

I know folks who took the Brookhaven Patho and dosage calc course and went through the EL Centro/Norhtlake program. No they did not get credit in the El/NL nursing program for them, but it was still on their DCCCD transcript. They also told me those classes where a great help and put them ahead of some of the other students.

Of course if you take, say, Chemistry at Brookhaven, it will transfer to El Centro or Northlake (or any other DCCCD school), but since you don't need Chemistry for the El Centro/Northlake program it would be just extra credit. Of course you could use the class when you get your BSN and education is never a waste.

If you have the time and money take all the classe you can. HTa way you can play the odds and apply to more than one program. If you don't pick a progam and concentrate.

Personally, I'd got with El Centro/ Northlake and take Spanish.

21 days until the letter deadline, 27 days until the last day of my chemistry class. I sure hope I get accepted, that way I won't blow the last chem exam from being too upset...then again, I may be too excited to concentrate. :chuckle

For me, taking 3 classes has helped me make the time go by quicker but it hasn't helped in thinking and stressing out about getting accepted or not. I wish they would send out the letters early but from what I heard they don't.

I sure hope they send the letters out on Friday, the 14th, and not the Monday after! lol Of course, they may go in on that Sat to finish up...or just wait until the 15th to mail them...just because! lol
