CVICU Preceptorship!!!

I am soooooo excited!!! I'm in my final semester of nursing school and start my preceptorship on the CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Cate Unit) managed by Duke Cardiology!!!!!! I start this Thursday and can't wait! Anyone else starting their preceptorship soon? If so, when? Those past this point how was your preceptorship and what type of unit was it on?

I recently graduated in December 2012. I did my preceptorship in the CVICU and loved it. I recently passed my NCLEX and applied for a job on the unit. There is always something to learn in the CVI. Hope your experience is awesome!

congratulations! Good Luck!

Same with me, I did 6 months in a CVICU and it was incredible. Youll see things and do things youll never forget and the experience will make you an even better nurse. I carried a small pocket notebook around with me and wrote down everything and anything i learned and i still refer to it. Good luck!

Wow! Thanks for the well wishes and Insight guys! I hope by doing my preceptorship there I will be able to get a job. They do y hire a lot of new grads. Just a few about a few every other year or so from what I've observed and been told. They will CONSIDER some new grad applications this year i am told. Btw I've worked at the hospital where this unit is for going on 2.5 years as a CNA in the float pool. I hope that will make Meier desirable when the time comes up apply for new grads jobs in March. Idk. Anyway, I will enjoy this experience to the fullest! I will try to keep you guys updated on how things are going! Thanks Again!

Congrats! I did my practicum in an ED, really enjoyed it and helped me prepare a little bit for my job once I graduated.
