Good luck. There really is no age limit to going back to school. I'm 45 and am going back for a BSN.

Good luck in everything you do.

Age is nothing but a number. It does not matter how old you are. I go to school with an LPN that is in her late 50's. She got married young and her husband was extremely controlling. Never let her drive, work, anything. She waited until all her children married and moved out. Her husband found another female and ran off with her. She then learned to drive, become and independant woman, got her G.E.D. Next she began to pursue her life long dream of becoming a nurse and became and LPN. She is now in an RN program. She is one of my inspirations and admire her endlessly. I am sure she has lots to offer and no matter how many years she does it for, it is priceless.

Good luck to you and do not limit yourself by thinking about your age. You are as old as you feel and you should feel great :)

Dead would be the end age for not applying for school in my opinion.

I agree with Jessica, you are only as old as you feel. I think that if this is what you want to do, then go for it.

When I was in school the oldest in my class was 69.....She graduated and passed boards and went to work in Well Baby Nursery. She said she needed those babies since all of her 15 kids were grown and out on their own

Good luck

I got my LPN at 34, ADN at 36, BSN at 45, MSN at 46 and I'm starting a post-masters certificate in Sept at age 47. Dead is the correct answer.

I'm 30 and I'm starting my pre-reqs on Monday. I am hoping to get accepted to an accelerated BSN program and eventually become a CRNA.

Hey well congrats for getting back into school. My friend that I take all classes with just turned 50. She does better than most of the younger crowd. You can do it!!! Other advice study, stay positive, sleep when you can,

Just last week I went into the counseling office of the community college at which I'd like to attend. I told her that I might be one of the older students going back for a nursing degree in my mid/late 30's. She said, "Nonsense. We have students enrolling in the program who are at least 55."

Made me feel a little better though, not that I was feeling all that bad but I was concerned about going back into the community college atmosphere - mostly young kids fresh out of high school who want to get block courses out of the way.

She was very, very helpful not only with the age concern, but she told me the exact sequence in which I needed to take my prereqs. Can't say as much as that other school I went to who told me that "Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech and Hearing Mechanism" satisfied the A&P requirements. NOT! I was steaming mad after that interview. It was a total waste of my time and it seemed like they wanted to get as many people to compete for the class size. After telling me that my previous A&P classes satisified their requirements, I sort of thought that this was the administations way of collecting the admission fee of $25 - whether they qualified for it or not.

I did call her on it and told her that she lied to me, but she cleverly danced around the subject.:angryfire If that wasn't the only affordable school where I could go and possibly get my BSN, I wouldn't give the school a second thought. But if it happens again, I WILL complain to administration, which I should have done the first time.
