Correct terminology?

What is the correct way to pronounce BUN. Like the sandwich word, or spelled out like bee-you-enn?

It annoys me when people pronounce it as "bun", like the bread for a hot dog. But I've heard it both ways.

I've never heard "bun," just "B-U-N."

Tomayto/tomahto. While B-U-N is the correct form, I have heard "bun" frequently...even from practitioners! It may be more of a locality word as can be angina!

Part of my job right now is running analytical chemistries, among other diagnostic testing. We say "bun", if that is medically correct or not I don't know but it's what we say.

In second semester of nursing school, I said "bun" near a nephrologist. If looks could kill...

the he importance of proper pronunciation depends on the audience. Technically it is B-U-N. But it's not uncommon for people to just say bun.

I have only heard B-U-N before, but perhaps it depends on the area?
