Code with two doctors and noone else?

I'm into disc 2, season one of Scrubbs, courtesy of Netflix. They show Dr Cox and Elliot doing a code with Dr C defibbing and Elliot giving compressions. There is noone else in the room and they have an ambubag sticking in the pts' mouth, where an ET tube has apparently been placed, and noone is compressing the ambubag.

I understand that they can't have it totally accurate, but this was ridiculous. There are tons of other inaccuracies in the show, but this is the most glaring I've seen so far.

I was a firefighter - either had to wait on help from another engine company/LEO or had to wait on an ambulance. :)

Sometimes, I think back on some of the situations I was in and it is a miracle that anyone got out alive. We get pretty spoiled in the hospital or even HEMS with all the help!

OK, I'm back and I'm going to watch the third disc of the first season of Scrubbs. My husband thinks I'm nuts. I'll go in the basement and watch it there, maybe in all sitting, maybe not. I think I'll drink a glass of wine to celebrate the day!

Scrubs is great. If you think the code was bad, did you see the one where the guy's chest incision popped open and JD is up to his elbows while everyone else walks around completely oblivious to what's happening?

Haven't seen that gem yet. Better get cracking. I'll check in later to complain about more inaccuracies. I think that's part of the fun of the show, in fact. I think they do it on purpose, sort of like someone said, like the "What's wrong with this picture" game that they have in children's activity books.

I've never seen Scrubs....read my first post and you will see why but many yrs ago my first day as the only Paramedic (working with an EMT) in a rural area I responded to a full code. Not only did I have to defib her 3 times, intubate, pour a round of epi down the tube, defib again and start an IV (EMT's cannot do any of these skills) all by myself but she actually lived!!! SO working a code with 2 docs sounds like a luxury!!!!

i thought they changed the ACLS guidelines for that?- just curious

I'm with CritterLover -- I LOVE "Scrubs," and it's the only hospital show I've been able to stand to watch in, literally, decades. It's not trying to be medically accurate -- it's about the many absurdities of life in a typical hospital (and gets so many of them right ... :))
