CNOR

I am preparing to take my CNOR exam in December. I have had conflicting advice on what I should study. My manager says to study Alexander's, but my friends that have taken the exam tell me to study the AORN CNOR guide, which I have. My manager adamantly advises AGAINST studying the CNOR guide, but I can't see how it is possible for me to study an entire textbook for this exam. Any suggestions?

I did AORN's review course. It got me 30 CEs for renewing my license in addition to studying. They also give your money back if you don't pass. I passed on the first try.

I did the aorn review. Passed the first time.

How did you do the AORN review course? Did you only read through the modules, and then take the one practice test at the end?

How long have you been in the OR?

I have done the AORN course, and have also ordered the practice test CD. I have Alexander's, Kohns, and the AORN standards as well to skim through certain topics.

I only have the printed version of the CNOR review. I refuse to pay the money to get the testing modules; it is too expensive. A good friend of mine gave me her printed review, so that is what I will study. I don't have the time or the energy to study the entire Alex. textbook, so I am hoping that reviewing the CNOR notes will suffice.

Honestly, that test was much easier than expected...

Canesduke, that's what I did too. I didn't do any review questions. Just read the printed version once and took the test. It was easier than expected.

You CAN NOT pass simply off of Alexanders. The CNOR asks specific questions from the latest AORN Perioperative Standards and Recommended Practices book that you can't find in Alexander's.

HAHAHAHAAA!!!!

I concur!

I would suggest getting the AORN Standards & Recommended Practices to study. When I took the exam, a lot of the questions were based from this book.

I have just applied for cnor exam. I will buy the 2010 aorn standards and recommendation book as advised by those who passed the exam. Thank you very much for sharing because my colleague is very hesitant to share what books to review. Good luck to you canesdukegirl!
