Aug 25, 20196 yr I am in the process of studying for the CNEcl. I currently have the CNE certification. For those of you who have taken the CNEcl, what study tips do your have? What resources did you find to be most beneficial?
Feb 27, 20206 yr Author Congratulations TiffyRN!! I took the CNE in 2017 and passed. I have run out of time so I can’t push it out any further LOL! So the date is set in stone. I have been reading on and off over the last few months but buckling down now.
Mar 9, 20206 yr Author I finally sat for the exam today and I passed!! In my opinion the exam was challenging but doable. My study plan included reading the entire Oermann, Hellenbarger, Gaberson book, Billings & Halstead (clinical, sims, and learning theories chapters), CNE review guide ( red book; only the clinical, sims, and learning theories chapters), the new CNEcl review guide (it’s contains questions only), and the self assessment exam. The questions on the SAE and in the CNEcl review book were very helpful.
Apr 22, 20206 yr Professor D,How long does it take for us to get our letter to test after we've registered for the exam? A week? 2 weeks? A month?
Apr 22, 20206 yr Author Hi Jess89c, My authorization to test came in about 2 weeks. It was quicker then I expected. Good luck!! Let me know if you have any other questions.
May 4, 20206 yr I took the CNE in early March at Myrtle Beach just before coronavirus restrictions and I passed. Thank goodness! It was hard, but I took my time and read each question carefully. The test lets you bookmark questions to look at again. I bookmarked about 45. Know Bloom's taxonomy for sure. I had many questions about evaluation of learning, a few on statistical analysis. I also had several on curriculum design and modification. As far as preparation, I had the Halstead and Billings book and used it a little, but I really used Whitman-Price's book. Seriously, it helped a lot. I will say that being an experienced educator (20+ years in an Associate Degree program) helped. Good luck to anyone taking the exam in the near future. Happy Nurse's Week.
Nov 17, 20214 yr Congrats on passing the CNEcl exam. For those who have taken the CNE exam as well, how do both compare? I teach both clinicals and lectures and wondered which to take. Since I plan to teach lectures long term, I have decided to start with the CNE exam. I just started the Billings and Halstead book. I also bought the full questions app by Whitman-Price for $79. Any further tips or suggestions? Thank you
