  1. Professor D, How long does it take for us to get our letter to test after we've registered for the exam? A week? 2 weeks? A month?
  2. Congratulations, Professor D!! ??
  3. So Billings, the CNE exam manual, and making notecards helped you pass the exam? Any other resources help with practice questions? Or would knowing the CNE content very well (from Billings & the CNE exam manual) be sufficient to pass? Thanks so much for sharing!
  4. Yes. I agree that setting a date is the first thing in getting started. That way we can back track how we need to plan in order to prepare for the exam. I definitely would like to take it before the Fall semester starts, or before the end of August. However, if I feel ready to take it prior to August, I will definitely go for it. How about you? Do you have a time frame of when you would like to take it? How soon or how far out?
  5. Yes, that's the best way to start with the blue print. That way we can organize all this info in our heads. I will likely use the blue print as a guide to direct what I need to focus on, while I review and take notes from my books. After finishing my own study guide (and reviewing it a few times), I'm going to take the SAE to see my strengths and weaknesses. I'm wondering if I need to invest in practice questions. How about you?
  6. Good to hear we have the same books: Billings, D.M. & Halstead, J.A. (2011). Teaching in nursing: A guide for faculty (4th ed). I'm also reviewing these more closely: Felver, L., Gaines, B., Heims, M., Lasater, K., Laustsen, G., et al. (2010). Best practices in teaching and learning in nursing education. New York: National League for Nursing. National League for Nursing (2012). The scope of practice for academic nurse educators. Halstead, J. (2007). Nurse Educator Competencies: Creating An Evidence-Based Practice for Nurse Educators. New York: National League for Nursing. Like you, I haven't looked into prep books yet, because I want to go over the above books first, while following the blue print. Are you leaning on one book (or books) more so than others?
  7. Hi SRDAVIS, I'm looking to take the CNE too. PM me and perhaps we can set up a study schedule? I'm also looking for someone to toss info back and forth, while studying. What books do you already have to study with?
  8. I haven't found that site on allnurses. Have you? I know that there's the web site ratracebellion.com, which has work at home jobs in healthcare.
  9. That's Wonderful, Maggi315! What university will you be graduating from?
  10. Link doesn't work for me either, Maggie315. I found the link below. They hire MSN prepared nurses. When will you be done with your MSN? http://www.instructionalconnections.org/index.php?p=1_9_Job-Opportunities If the link above doesn't work either, you can google "Instructional Connections Jobs"
  11. The "Entrepreneurs in Nursing" forum discusses how to become a CEU provider. https://allnurses.com/entrepreneurs-in-nursing/calling-all-nurse-24358-page26.html Its also discussed in this past thread: https://allnurses.com/nurse-practitioners-np/teaching-ceus-nurses-351942.html
  12. There are universities/colleges looking for MSNs to teach online nursing courses. The past thread below addressed this topic: https://allnurses.com/nursing-faculty-nursing/seeking-online-teaching-207989-page2.html
  13. Ball State University (BSU) has a post-baccalaureate certificate (or post-BSN) in nursing education: http://cms.bsu.edu/Academics/CollegesandDepartments/Nursing/MastersDegrees/OnlineMastersProg/PostBANursingEd.aspx You could later complete your MSN (Educator) at BSU since the courses in the post-baccalaureate certificate are in the MSN (Ed) track. http://cms.bsu.edu/Academics/CollegesandDepartments/Nursing/MastersDegrees/OnlineMastersProg/LeadershipPoS.aspx Just an option for those who want to attain a post-baccalaureate certificate before jumping all the way into an MSN program.
  14. They are looking for online tutors in Med-Surg Nursing, Medical Assisting, Biology, and Chemistry: http://www.smarthinking.com/static/e-structors/positions/ You can always google: Smart Thinking Tutor Positions Good Luck!
