NCLEX Classes: Teaching?
I think they is a big market for this kind of teaching but first and foremost, you have to make a very good product. If i were you, i would start with the local test prep because you can get immediate feed back from the students on what helped them, what did not and what they wished was in the course. Also, you could do a survey with recent nclex takers on what was the most helpful thing that helped them pass the course. After you have a good product, now go online. Pay someone who understands SEO- ie search engine optimization so that they can make your site appear on google page one when potential test takers search terms related to nclex test prep. Keep in mind that its all about marketing....you have to understand that and find ways to make your course unique otherwise you cannot survive. Amazon books/ebooks are another source of traffic that you can use. I know a guy making 22k monthly making simple guides for nursing students. Here's is his amazon page- Amazon.com: Jon Haws: Books, Biography, Blog, Audiobooks, Kindle You can search niche pursuits podcast and search his name and listen to him revealing how he makes 22k monthly selling nursing guides. Good luck

Hospice Agency Startup
Hi klone, MSN, RN, Thank you very much for responding. That is very interesting observation from the startups your hubby was involved into. May i ask what area where the hospice agencies? Why do you think they failed? In my opinion, if one can figure out a steady source of finding referrals, you should be half way there unless of course you are not business savvy. I know other agencies that will admit anything, even a dog, to hospice knowing very well that they are not appropriate and they do get shut down by medicare

Hospice Agency Startup
Hi PadmeRN, Thanks for responding and i say amen to your thoughts. I live near San bernadino which is about half hour drive to LA. I would love to pay your friend and speak to him or her over the phone for a couple questions i have. Is your agency already DHS licenced by LA county and did that take long? where did you buy the hospice manuals to start agency?

Hospice Agency Startup
Ktwlpn, Thanks for your input. what part of the country are you in? This is what i thought 5 years ago..... However cancer rates are at all time high do not see that slowing down due to the bad eating habits, lifestyles and stress that people have in the USA. In the hospital based agency i work for, we get 8-10 referrals a day and they have to outsource half of them due to staffing and also share the love or wealth if you may call it. Are you working for hospice currently? Also for me i only need 20-30 patients so that i cam really do a very good job. I don't need the millions people are after.

I don't thnk these patients are appropriate
If they can feed themselves they are not appropriate, Also, pts on hospice should have some sort of change every 2 weeks when we do IDG meeting. If they are not changing, they should be discharged. You also have to be careful because if someone reports this to medicare and they infact investigate and find pt not appropriate to hospice, you as a RN can be in trouble with my license.

Hospice Agency Startup
After working about 9 years as Hospice case manager, i have decided to open a hospice agency in southern California. I have done a lot of research and can find out the regulation that states how much money you should have to start a hospice. Both me and my wife are RNS and i have a cousin who is a social worker willing to help me and also a friend who is a chaplain. Does any one know for sure how much you need to open such an agency? If i am the licensee for the agency can i also see pts in the field when the surveyors can to the survey agency? I will be using chap accreditation for a deemed status. I am also willing to pay a consultant to walk me through the process in case you know one. Please respond to my questions if you have any input

Capital needed to start a new Home Health Agency
With 6 years of Home health RN Case Management experience under my belt, i have finally decided to start my own HHA here in Southern California using the deemed status acreditation by JCAHO. Does anyone know how much money you need to have in the company account to be granted deemed or certified to bill medicare? Is this Capital issue a requirement by medicare or is it just a good thing to have since its a new business? Any feedback towards this thread is greatly apreciated. Be safe out there nurses. RN Tee
