CNA training

i just move in new jersey and try to find a free cna training

how is the class going? how much are the phlem/ ekg classes without the cna class...i'm willing to pay a tad more if the school has a good repution for helping students get jobs...

since i already have my cna license, i had planned to take the nurse tech course (phlem/ ekg) at manhattan institute ($899) before i realized it was cheaper to take it where i took my cna course: ny medical training center ($599) ...i start summer classes on july 2nd and want to enroll in weekend classes....

anyone else taken any course from the training schools mentioned in this thread and how is it going?...fyi: here is a link to where i took my cna course...i think the only thing stopping me from returning to ny med training center is the (not so nice) bathroom, ..the cna course was either $500 or $600 when i took it last year, i don't remember

i went to this school, and yeah the bathroom was never the greatest. i went about 5 years ago for my medical assistant cert (w/phleb & ekg), and then i went back earlier this year for the cna course. both were good programs and prepared me well. the administrators & teachers there are quite helpful (why i went back). i went to the manhattan institute during the summer for the dialysis tech prog. it was alright, not great. i havent really retained much and don't really need to since you are trained by the company you end up working for. i only did the course because the cert may come in handy when i graduate as a rn. the proces at bothe schools are definitely reasonable compared to many others. if you want to go to the mnahattan institute: register early! the closer you get to the starting date, the higher the price gets.

I've actually returned to NYMED and finished the Nurse tech course over the summer...I spoke to a faculty member this week who told me to go to him when I am ready so they can send my on an internship...I am waiting until this semester is over before I do the internship.

i received my CNA certification from Franklin Career Institute in Brooklyn, NY. That was last year - I'm pretty sure they still offer it but check into it for yourself. I can't remember the exact price but it wasn't very expensive.

There used to be a school called Municipal Training Center located in Brooklyn, my sister went there. They closed down, when I checked with the Board of Education they said that the Manhattan Institute was taking there students. They also said that are a well established school, in good standing.

I enrolled at the Manhattan Institute, and have since graduated and found a very good job. They are located in Midtown Manhattan, so it is a fast trip from Brooklyn.

i'm interested in the ny medical career center (flushing) in order to earn my cna certificate. since you graduated from there, did you find it easy to get a job afterwards as a cna in ny? do i have to make sure the school is accredited by some type of organization for cna's in order to successfully find a job after graduation? i'm not crazy about the lack of parking in the area, but i'd attend if my chances of finding a job afterwards were good. my long term goal is to attend nursing school.

just finished my cna a course at Manhattan Institute will start me internship with a nursing home in the bronx next week. the cousre was 900 it was worth it i had a great teacher.

yes it was easy to find jobs. every interview that i went on was successful and i picked and chose where i wanted to go. i actually work in nj with the ny cert. i never did take the state exam since i knew that i was going to start my rn program in aug. the school is definitely accredited. i mostly parked on side streets and didnt have to pay. it is a reputable school and the teachers that i had were excellent!!
