CNA training

Published

Hi!

I will be applying to nursing school in October. I want to get a job working in the medical field and I would like to become a CNA to get some experience. Has anybody taken any classes to certify me? I live on Long Island - Nassau County.

Thanks

I'm starting my course in July at Winthrop Hospital and I know they have a few more openings. Another great and free place to do CNA training and work is Glen Cove Hospital(North Shore Glen Cove) and I know of someone doing it at LIJ but I haven't heard anything else about it there.

Hi!

Is the course at Winthrop free if not how much does it cost? What are the days/hours?

Thanks for your input.

Tracy

It is of no cost, you have to do two weeks in the hospital training from 8-4. After you can pick which shift you want to work, the salary is $15.69/hr plus additional if you work nights or overnight. The human resources contact is Janet Fasano and her e-mail is [email protected] or 663-3799. Glen Cove I heard yesterday offers sessions in the summer and winter break and also are very flexible for students

Hi!

That's great to know. I am planning on quitting my library job once I start nursing school so that will be great. I thought that I would have to take a big pay cut but that's pretty close to what I am making now.

Thanks

Tracy

Does anyone know of any city hospitals with CNA training programs?

sorry to jump on the band wagon here but i'm looking to find cna training in westchester, ny or nyc - anyone?

i found one school on-line:

manhattan institute

112 west 31 street

new york, new york 10001

2nd floor ,

212-564-1234

this place offers a course for "certified nurses aide" (4 wks.-day) and one for "nursing tech" (3 wks. -day) i think the courses are like $800 each- i've been trying to get some feedback on these courses. i didn't know there was free training?

does anyone think it will help if i take one before beginning nursing school in the fall? also i'd like to work pt as well in the medical field while going to school. i've already applied for a few nursing asst. positions but w/o exp. i doubt i will hear back.

thanks.
