0Hello! I am new here and exploring nursing as the next chapter in my life. I took Chemistry 130 at Rio Salgado online. I did great on all the assignments but bombed the midterm and final. My final grade hasn't posted an it could possibly be a Low C grade but I am already considering retaking the course. I am debating taking Chemistry 130 on the net through Rio again. I wanted to see what your experiences were with this class and whether you wish you had taken it in person. I Had major issues with the instructor who was never available and took a week to grade assignments. Can u send me the name of a great online chm instructor who can help more with the mid and final prep? I'm gunna attempt the eight week again. Thanks in advance.

Hey there - I took this same class, and I struggle too. It is not an easy class online, especially if you are not very good with chemistry (which I'm not! LOL!). In person would be much easier, IMO. However, for me, online was my only option due to other commitments and work etc. so I just had to make the best of it. My instructor was a very, very tough marker - I mean, if you were even a small bit wrong, you would lose all your points. Did you take the lab too?
In summary - if you can take this class in person, I would suggest doing so, but if you can't then just knuckle down and try your best.

Never took Chem online or in AZ for that matter but if you do retake I suggest using rate my professor to find out about the teacher you may have before sign up for their class. (not all teacher are on that site)

Chemistry is a very enjoyable class if you find the right professor. If by chance you live in the East valley, take the course again with ----------------. I took 152 with him a while ago and he was hands down one of the best professors I have had the pleasure to learn from. He teaches courses 130, 151, and 152.

Oh man, I have a B in the lecture portion and an A in the lab. I take my in person final tomorrow... Rio Salado is very difficult as I am usually an A or B student in person classes and this final may impact my grade. I am taking BIO201 and BIO205 next semester with them an then take the entrance exam for the nursing blocks in April. Can't wait!
How did your final go?
You're following the exact pathway of study I did in these classes!
I took all my pre-reqs with Rio because I worked fulltime and with my kids, dogs, home, and life, I just couldn't fit in "in person" classes as well. I found chemistry the hardest class of all. In January 2016 I took 4 classes all on the accelerated 8 week course because I was determined to get everything done in time to submit my application for the next round!!
Same Same! Work, kids, family lol online is better for the prereqs but so hard! The final knocked me down to a C, got an A in the lab. Just so happy I don't have to retake it.. so I have BIO 201 in January and then apply to the program. Wow 2016, you must be on the waitlist or in the blocks at this point? How exciting, good luck to you!
Sorry - that was a typo - I meant 2017.... I had 3 classes left to complete (4 if you include Chem lab) before I could apply. BIO 205, CHM130, CHM130LL and another one (I forget which now, I've taken so many darn pre-reqs!). That was at the start of this year. The deadline for applying was May if I recall, and if I took the 16 week program it was cutting things too fine, so I had to do the 8 week route. Horrible!! But - I completed the classes and got my application in in time.
I applied for the CEP, and I got accepted June 2017! Started online (University) classes this August and heading to nursing school at the college in January 2018!
