CCRN or RNC

Which exam do you think is the better one to take? Normally it wouldn't even be a question and I would go for RNC but I know CRNA schools for which I'm currently applying, are not as familiar with RNC as they are CCRN.

CCRN would probably be the better option if you are thinking to apply to CRNA school. Most schools require this certification.

Would you be able to pass the CCRN? Is it geared more towards adults?

CCRN is available in adult, pediatric, and neonatal. I believe the OP has experience in neonates and adult critical care both.

I would do just the neonatal CCRN as that is my strongest area. I also have experience in PICU

From what I've seen RNC is the more common cert for NICU nurses. My hospital will only accept RNC. They are also the company that certifies NNPs in my state.

You could do both. It sounds like RNC is easier than CCRN; you could knock them both out in the same time frame. I know it's pricey to do both, but maybe your unit would cover the cost of one or the other.

CCRN also requires more continuing ed to keep up than RNC, but if you're going to return to CRNA school within 3 years then that's a non-issue.

It seems as though RNC is more common and highly-regarded in NICU, whereas CRNA school only really cares about the CCRN. If your goal is CRNA rather than staying at the NICU bedside, then CCRN will serve you better in your applications.
