I took my CCRN examination, and unfortunately, my score was an 88. 1 QUESTION away from passing!! Frustrating and discouraging to say the least. Nerves and test anxiety definitely got the best of me.
Does anyone know if there is any type of waiting period you have to meet until you retest? i.e. 60-90 day probation period?
I watched the Laura G. videos and read a Kapan CCRN review book, any other advice from anyone ? Are retest questions similar/some repeat questions?
Thanks!

No, I don't believe there is a waiting period to retest. Register and retest ASAP! Also consider a CCRN review on iTunes. Give yourself a couple days, listen to those, and then go hit the test again and pass!

I just finished the CCRN and passed. Personally, I would recommend getting the book from the AACN. I actually had a significant number of questions on the CCRN exam that appeared on the practice exams in the book. The Pass CCRN! CD is nice as well. I also attended a review course offered through my hospital. Good luck!

[h=1]Are you referring to the AACN question book for the CCRN or AACN Certification and Core Review for High Acuity and Critical Care?[/h]

Get the PASS! CCRN book and use the practice questions on the CD that comes with it. Has over 1,000 questions or so. Do a full CCRN style test everyday and focus on the areas that you did poorly on from your test (look at the percentages on your results page that printed out after the test). Laura Gasparis has a dvd review course with practice questions that are great! The Pass CCRN cd and the dvd review was all I used and I got a 110/125, and I've recommended this to a lot of people and that's what they used to pass as well. Just don't give up! Good luck!

I took the CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) and CCRN today after doing 3 "PASS CEN" exams online last night (bought the book, went to the website, used the activation code inside cover, and activated the online material). A few days ago I did a few practice exams from a CCRN app I downloaded on my Mac from the app-store. Otherwise did basically no studying. I work in a busy ED and have been a nurse for 2.5 years. Passed the exams with flying colors. If you're a decent test taker, pay attention to ABC's, know a little about cardiopulmonary parameters, have good patho knowledge, and have had ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC, you should be fine!
I also took the CCRN exam today after I finished the CEN, and for the record found the CEN to be a little bit harder, likely because of the vast breadth of material covered in the CEN (it also has 25 more questions than the CCRN), where the CCRN is a little more focused. CCRN was "softer" in content (several more touchy feely questions), and more redundant with stroke, cardio, and ABG type questions. I did equally well on both exams. Trust me, if you use your brain and are a decent test taker you will likely pass!!!! Good luck!!!

Do you think studying strictly from the Laura Gasparis green book with all the questions and rationales would be enough along with the self assessment test they have on the aacn website? I've already invested so much money into study materials in that and her conference.. I would love a cd form of questions but spending that much more money again is just getting to be rough. Esp with Christmas coming up.
