Can someone help me

One of the questions on my anatomy homework asks me to state the quadrant of the abdominopelvic cavity where the pain or sound would be located for each of the 6 common conditions listed.

1.Stomach Ulcer

2.Appendicitis

3.Bowel sounds

4.Gallbladder attack

5.Kidney stone in left ureter

6.Ruptured spleen

Can anyone tell me what its actually asking for? I'm confused:madface: I have class in a few hours so if anyone can help it'd be great and much appreciated!!

for example for appendicitis the pain is in the lower right quadrant and the pt. has what is called rebound tenderness. when applying pressure to that quadrant and letting go the pt has pn. hope this helps a little and gives an idea where to start.

There are 4 quadrants to help describe the abdomen, the right upper quadrant, left upper quadrant, right lower quad, and left lower quad. Basically spliting the abdomen into 4 sections:

1.Stomach Ulcer=Left upper

2.Appendicitis=Left lower

3.Bowel sounds=can be heard in all 4 quadrants but more likely the right and left lower

4.Gallbladder attack=Left upper

5.Kidney stone in left ureter=??

6.Ruptured spleen=??

Hope this helps, good luck!!

I'm not sure but it sounds as if it is asking for where would you feel viscera pain. Like For instance number 1 you have stomach ulcers, you would feel that like in the mid line of your body and your back. That would be in your somatic senses chapter or special senses.

Or you could Be talking about body regions and For #1 stomach ulcers you would feel that in Left upper quadrant or epigastric region. that would be in your first few chapters probably the first one on body regions and planes and anatomical position.

I'm a little confused on what you are asking but hopefully that will spark something for you

1.Stomach Ulcer=Left upper, also crosses into right upper

2.Appendicitis=right lower (pt may need hot lights/cold steel quickly)

3.Bowel sounds=can be heard in all 4 quadrants but more likely the right and left lower, especially left

4.Gallbladder attack=right upper

5.Kidney stone in left ureter=left lower

6.Ruptured spleen=left upper (pt needs hot lights/cold steel now!)

i thought spleen had referred pain?

i thought spleen had referred pain?

pn can present as referred pn in left shoulder, but not always. Ruptured spleen is gonna show as LUQ tender /c possible belly distension, rigidity and LUQ guarding. Expect and treat for shock early.
