Can someone explain?

Hello I'm about to be in 4th level and graduate this December and was wondering if anyone can explain the process? I keep reading about not being able to take nclex until you get att? I know the teachers will tell us all about it when the semester starts but would like a heads up! Thanks! And congrats to everyone that has passed :-)

your ATT is your "authorization to test" which allows you to actually schedule an appt and test date. In order to receive that and may be different in your state, your school must send the testing site and board confirmation that you graduated or an official transcript. Once that is received you will be sent your ATT. In my case I received mine within a 2 weeks of graduation, but it really all depends on how fast your school and state work. hope this helped a bit.

For my school, we had to do some paperwork for the board of nursing, which basically consisted of getting passport photos(2) and filling out registration(to test I think). We all filled it out and turned it in at the beginning of our last quarter, then once we all graduated, they sent all of our paperwork in. I registered with Pearson about 5 weeks before I graduated and paid my 200$, then I received my ATT about 10 days after graduating and scheduled my test for the following week.

It's all different wherever you go. For us, we went to the BON and filled out our applications and finger prints before graduation. Out school sent in affidavits proving we graduated and about 5 days after graduation we got our ATT. We have also requested our official transcripts be sent to the BON when our degree posts, which is supposed to be this week! Some paid their $200 to test before graduation, some after. I paid after, as it was a grad gift!

Anyone know what the procedure is for Florida?

For New York, our school gave us the go-ahead, and then we just sent in our applications. No photos or fingerprints, but had to get it notarized (thank god a girl in our class was a notary!).

After your application is processed, you go online and schedule your date, and then you get an ATT which you MUST bring with you to the testing site, along with a legit form of ID. No expired licenses and no learners permits.

Anyone know what the procedure is for Florida?

Florida: You have to get you FBI level fingerprints done (at a local UPS) it cost me $85. Then you file an application on the state DOH website, I believe it was $150 or somewhere around that price. You concurrently create an account with Pearson Vue and pay the $200 for the NCLEX exam. Then you wait for your school to send the confirmation of your graduation to the BON. Once they receive it and process your application, they send you a confirmation. Pearson will receive the info from the BON and process your ATT. Your ATT will be emailed to you, then you can log on to Pearson and make an appointment to take your NCLEX.

I advise you from my experience to Pay for Pearson and get your fingerprints done early before graduation, do your application for the BON. Then when your school sends your info to the BON you will be processed really quick. My school made the process so much longer because they made us all do this stuff after graduation. Took me 5 weeks to get an ATT because of that - and I had to call the BON & Pearson everyday - so annoying.
