Buckles

I'm hopefully due to qualify soon, if I manage to pass the last 2 assignments & get my portfolio in order. I really want a buckle when I qualify which I know no-one seems to wear anymore, I just wondered if anyone knows where you get them from.

Yes I never got to wear 2 stripes on my hat because they banned hats when I went into my second year lol. I was most upset. We had belts then and the colour told the year of being a student. Nobody ever knew what the colour signified.

I even worn my hat with a green strip once I qualified :D Sometimes miss the hat but not often

hiya. I know what you mean. I couldn't wait to wear my buckle when i qualified, and luckily enough the ward that i work on allows buckles (some wards don't allow it). I often get comments from patients that they like to see nurses in their buckles as they know instantly that they are talking to a trained nurse. It looks professional i think aswell.

I got my buckle from a jewellry shop. I think you can send away for them too. I seem to remember there are adverts in some nursing journals.

at the risk of appearing ancient....... I wore my grandmothers silver buckle for many years with my uniform dress.. stopped only about 5 yrs ago!!

I've seen buckles for sale in shops recently- though they can be a bit pricey!

Oh my that pic from 1985 - yup that was me!! & yes I did get a buckle when I qualified I had to wear a hat that made me look like a chop on a crown rack of lamb!! It wasn't steristrips though - just 10 white hairclips to keep it in place!!
