Bored!

I'm bored outta my freakn' mind right now waiting for school to start. Is there something productive I could be doing to prepare for school?

Are you working? Maybe you could find a healthcare-related job somewhere. (CNA, Pharmacy Tech, etc).

Is there a certain area of nursing you are interested in? You could always read some journals related to that area.

But really... enjoy your down time while you can. Unfortunately, you won't have a lot of it once you start school.

All the Best-

If you already have your textbooks then start reading. The amount of reading becomes overwhelming very quickly when school starts.

If you do not have your textbooks yet consider picking up a book like Fundamentals of nursing made incrediably easy. You can get a older version on Amazon or Half for about $5.

I second the other suggestions and also would add to buy a drug calculation workbook and start on it. Do some every day...and you will start out ahead of your classmates.

I am bored too! I finished my micro in summer I and was going to take tai chi for summer II, but decided not to. I am reading about drug calculations and skimming through some nclex prep books just to get a feel for it. I hate not doing anything really productive, but as others have said we will be nonstop busy when school starts and maybe we can enjoy this down time. I like to go to the library and read nursing journals and such.

I hear ya! I can't wait until next month!! I'm enjoying the time off and I'm trying to cherish it because I know once school starts it's going to be crazy. For fall the book store doesn't open until 8/3 so I don't have my books yet. I did buy a dosage calculations book and have been working on that. Hang in there....we'll be in the tornado soon, lol. Good luck! :)

Damn! I wish I had the time to feel bored. I have to be in school throughout the year. One more course to go before preceptorship...I can't wait for next month to come. Off to making preparation for clinical tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestions y'all! They're all good ones, especially about the dosage calculations. I have orientation on Tuesday so I'll pick up my books if they're available.

I feel your pain! I am so freaking excited to start the second year, I can't wait for it to get here already! I will start studying again soon, though. I feel like I need more info on drug classifications, and I want to brush up on med calcs before school starts.

Honestly, I was bored before I started too....but now I wish I had the time that I had beforehand.....Take a mini vacation, relax, enjoy life because once school starts, you'll be super busy. My program (BSN) is 3 years long with the summers in between.....we get 10 days between spring & Summer, then another 10 days between summer & fall, and about 40 days between fall & Spring semesters.....so with the exception of the winter break, it's go go go.....

Go work out, go see your friends, get away for a few days. Trust me, you will miss these things when it gets into the thick of it. Enjoy the time off! Going in relaxed I think is the most important thing. Right before I started school I took a 2 week camping trip through the Rockies. I came so ready for school
