Hi everyone!
I just took the nclex on Wednesday and using the Pearson Vue trick found out I passed! Now, I'm focusing on getting my cpr and first aid renewed. I was looking online and I've seen websites that can certify me online. It says that its Nationally Accepted but I'm not sure where to check to make sure it actually is. There are also live classes where they give a cheaper rate if I'm renewing my license- only if its still active. I'm wondering is there a website I can go check to see if it's expired yet or not? any information would be great!

To my understanding, you still have to do the "hands on" part of BLS in front of a BLS instructor; only the written test can be taken online. Most hospitals have BLS classes all the time. I have always just re-newed at my place of employment.

If you have to pay for it yourself, the ACLS class will include a BLS renewal.

r_mari - can you explain the "Pearson Vue" trick to me? I understand the idea that the website won't allow you to sign up to retake the test if you already passed. But I realize that "signing up" is a 2-step process: first, you have to "register" to take the test & pay $200, then the second step is scheduling a date/location for the exam. Is it the "registering"/paying $200 that is disallowed after you passed?

Just look at your BLS card to see when it expires. Don't you have a card from your previous certification?

i have previously posted many discussions regarding online bls recertification, most recently here: bcls online renewal - nursing for nurses,
if you have to pay for it yourself, the acls class will include a bls renewal.
this is not true. acls includes a skills verification of adult bls skill, this is not the same as completing a bls recertification course.
@ AJPV- The pearson vue trick is when you try to register and it doesn't allow you. This step happens before you pick a date. So when you register, fill out all the information and if it doesn't bring you all the way to select an appointment date then you've passed.
@novicern10- I lost my cpr card when I moved to another apartment. I remember knowing it would be valid until sometime at the end of this year but I forgot what month exactly. Thats why I'm wondering if there is a place to find out exactly what date it expires. I was thinking there might be a website like the bvnpt or rn websites where you can check if your license was still valid.

Look at the American Heart Association site. For Healthprovider BLS you can
sign up and take the written online. Print out the certificate and do
the clinical component at a local AHA class at your local college or
hospital. The access to the online educational material is good for one year.
Thanks r_mari! I'll be taking the test in a couple months. Time to study hard!
