Hi everyone, I've been working at my hospital for over 8 years as an LVN full time while pursuing my RN license and recently graduated in May. I'm trying to apply as an internal applicant as an RN to a few units, however I'm not sure how to write an email introducing myself or if this is appropriate to do. There is a new grad residency program opening up, however I wasn't picked for the last cohort and don't know if emailing managers would make a difference. If so, should I use my personal email or my work email? Any advice would be great!

Do you know when you got the letter to submit your TEAS results? I didn’t get one so I’m not sure if I should email to follow up. I did get a follow up email today about the zoom link for the orientation though! Also, has anyone made a page yet? I’m not on social media that much but if there is one, I’d like to join also!

Hi everyone! To those who have gotten an acceptance letter, have you received any additional communication besides the late start date? The letter says there may be homework or other things we need to turn in before our orientation, but I haven’t received anything. Also, has anyone received log in info for the first orientation meeting?

I just had a nursing interview this morning for an LVN volunteer position. Showed up at 10:50 for an 11:00 interview. Receptionist didn't tell them I was there until 11:15 which made me look like I was late so I could already tell it wasn't going well. During the interview I was being cut off my phone calls and people walking in the room. I got through it ( barely) and I was asked by the DON a bunch of scenario questions. Being my first interview, I was pretty nervous. She gave the following - What are the 5 rights - What experience do I have passing meds ( I'm a new grad and just received my license last month) and scenarios: 1. If a patient comes to you with chest pain what would you assess? - I said I would check the abcs, see if the patient is alert, see if the pain was in one area or radiating through arm ( i didn't say it in that order). 2. If a patient comes to you with a cough, what would you assess for? - I said i would check the drainage/sputum note the color and odor, Check the lung sounds.. 3. If a patient has a fever what would you assess and let the doctor know? - I had NO CLUE how to answer. Needless to say I'm pretty sure I'm not getting in. She didn't seem like she liked any of my answers and kept asking me what I would assess for and if i ever had any experience. She seemed pretty irritated as well. I told her we were only sent to nursing homes during clinical. Anyways, I was wondering exactly how DO you answer these questions? I feel so stupid. I can pass the nclex but I can't answer any of these??

Hi everyone! I have my first nursing interview tomorrow in a snf. I'm kind of nervous as to what I will be asked. I know the basic ' what are your strengths/ weaknesses' types but i've heard over and over to make a weakness seem like a strength like " i allow myself to take on too much work". I know it might seem like a good answer but I'd like to also give them an answer they might not have heard of. (My real weakness is that Im intimidated to be left alone because i might feel like i dont know what to do. but i dont know how well they'll respond to hearing that) Besides the regular interview questions are there any more I should prepare myself for? I tried looking up info on the facility on the website but it's down. Also, I've been worrying about my interview clothes and I'm always confused as to how I should do my hair. I have long hair and I need some ideas on what to do with it. I guess I might be worrying about this a little too much but I want to make a GREAT first impression especially this being my first interview and also the fact that its tough job hunting out there. none of my classmates have even gotten jobs yet ( we all graduated in june) Any help would be great!!!

@ AJPV- The pearson vue trick is when you try to register and it doesn't allow you. This step happens before you pick a date. So when you register, fill out all the information and if it doesn't bring you all the way to select an appointment date then you've passed. @novicern10- I lost my cpr card when I moved to another apartment. I remember knowing it would be valid until sometime at the end of this year but I forgot what month exactly. Thats why I'm wondering if there is a place to find out exactly what date it expires. I was thinking there might be a website like the bvnpt or rn websites where you can check if your license was still valid.

Hi everyone! I just took the nclex on Wednesday and using the Pearson Vue trick found out I passed! Now, I'm focusing on getting my cpr and first aid renewed. I was looking online and I've seen websites that can certify me online. It says that its Nationally Accepted but I'm not sure where to check to make sure it actually is. There are also live classes where they give a cheaper rate if I'm renewing my license- only if its still active. I'm wondering is there a website I can go check to see if it's expired yet or not? any information would be great!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm just so worried over it. I've talked to a couple of people from my class who just took the nclex. A couple passed ( according ti the pearsonvue trick) with 86 questions, another with 95 and another with 205- and the one who passed with 205 was at the top of the class! They were saying that there were so many things on the nclex that they didn't know. I just hope I pass with the minimun number of questions.

Hey everyone! I graduated an LVN program about 3 months ago and just finished doing a review. The review I did gives us online testing and says that if we get 60% and above on them we should do fine on the nclex. I've taken the tests and so far have done over 60% but as the days pass I'm having a harder time even attempting to take one. I get so worried that I might fail these practice tests that I end up putting them off so that I could "study" first and just end up doing other things. I know I'm basically psyching myself out but I don't know how to get over it. There is a lot of pressure from my family to pass and are even badgering me as to when I'll be taking the nclex and comparing me to distant family members who have passed because it was "so easy". I was just wondering if there was anyone else out there who's worried as I am or those who have taken the test and if theres anything that you do to help you stay focused and motivated?
