best nursing program in TX?

Is there any particular nursing program in Texas that is considered the best?? Just curious! Although UT-Houston does claim to be in the Top 10%, I have never seen any other nursing program rankings.

i happen to think any nursing program you get into is the best. it is way to hard to get in for me to be choosy...... but since im here ill plug my school!!!!

There is no "BEST" program - there are MANY great programs.

I just wasnt sure if one school was more prestigious than the others. As for me, I am trying to decide between UT-Houston and TAMU-CC eLine program. UT-Houston claims they are one of the best, but I dont know if employers care about this or not! You would think as long as you can pass the NCLEX, then employers wouldnt care what school you graduated from!

Are you an aggie grad? Tamu in CS is just starting an accelerated program that would be an excellent program to convert a current degree to a BSN is 14 months.

Blinndergarten has a good program: I work w/ lots of grads from there.

Prairie View has a program that almost completely satellites to CS.

If the students cant pass the NCLEX the state shuts the school down.

Employers don't care where you went to school - they just want to know that you A) have no criminal background B) Have a license and C) that your heart is still beating and your body is at least room temperature :)

I sure am - Class of '05. I would love to move back to CS, but my life is in Houston now. I thought about applying to the CS program but my fiance and I decided it would be to difficult to relocate all over again. If I decide to go with the TAMU-CC eLine program then I will be doing the clinicals in CS! I wouldnt mind the commute :)

Well, I am biased because I go to UT-Houston and I went to UT-Austin for a previous degree, but I say "hook-em". In 2004 US news and world report rated us in the top 10% of "graduate schools" for nursing, but for undergrad we were rated above all the other schools that you mentioned ( I think we UT-Austin was 10 we were19 and UTMB was 32). Now before anyone gets any wrong impression, I think that all of the nursing programs in the medical center: UT, A&M Prarieview, Houston Baptist University, and Texas Women's are all top notch and provide excellent nursing education. Also, ranking is partially determined by research $$$$, so larger Universities have an advantage.

We have lots of Aggies here, so don't let that be a factor. You will have to sing "The Eyes of Texas" at graduation though. (Hissing is verboten). Anyway, hope that helped and welcome to nursing.
