Kath22, I think they consider everything(questionnaire, experience/volunteer, gpa). I didn't have a degree, but I have taken the Health Care Assistant program (24credits), pre-reqs (22 credits), and currently taking LIBS 7001,7002 (6 creds). So about 52 credits, I have a pretty good CGPA though! For my work experience, I had about 1600 hours as a care aide at a long term care facility and as a community health worker!

When I asked the program advisor before, they said work/volunteer experience, gpa, post-secondary credits(60creds or more if you don't have volunteer experience related to health care)

I wish you all the best!! Hang in there !

Hello Everyone, I am Manraj. Thank you for making a fb page for our group. I was trying to look for books for level 1. I dont mind buying the used ones too. Where are you guys getting them from? any suggestions? .

can you please PM the link as well? I am having hard time looking for used textbooks

Same here...i havent found a good website for used books

For those who applied to the August 2014 intake and did not receive any acceptance status, did you guys' status also changed to rejected or something along the lines? Mine still says "Pending department review". Is it safe to assume that I (and those in similar situation) did not get accepted? I'm plan to call them tomorrow to confirm but I am just wondering if anyone has done the same and can clarify on that.

Hi BestUsernameEver,

I got placed on the hold-list and my status still says "pending department review" I'm not sure if everyone in the hold-list was contacted yet either since I just got the email around 5pm Friday which is close to the end of office hours. I think the best thing to do would be to call them tomorrow if you still don't get an email and your status doesn't change. Good luck!

For those looking for books, is it okay to purchase the previous edition?

Hello everyone. I want to ask you guys a question on tuition fee as most of you who got accepted into the program have better idea. Do you guys know if you pay tuition for every level? Or by semester? Also does anyone know how much the tuition is gonna be(approximately)?

Hi Netree, you pay tuition every level. It's $3282.93 + upass fees from level 1 to 5, and level 6 is $1955.04 + upass.

Thanks so much Cesh! That cleared up my question! Btw Do you know how hard it is to get into the program for a degree holder in general? ( I have very little, almost none health care related volunteer experience )

Hi Netree, this is what they told me when I asked them last year:

In the past, the Nursing department considered the following qualities of an applicant:

* Successful completion of entrance requirements

* The number of post-secondary courses completed. To be competitive, short-listed applicants must have at least one year of post-secondary education (30 credits). Successful applicants who do not have health-related work experience typically have approximately 60 post-secondary credits completed.

* GPA. Having a good GPA (e.g. 3.0) may enhance an application.

* Work experience. General work experience is reviewed. Having health related work experience can enhance an application but it is not required.

hope this helps!! Goodluck!!

Got a message in the myCommunications page for waitlisted applicants. Basically saying if a seat opens up for us 60+ days prior to program start (aug 18), you'll be emailed via myCommunications. If it is less than 60 days before the program starts, then we will get a phone call.

I wonder if they have started ranking the waitlist yet
