Since you were arrested, you were fingerprinted, and now have a permanent criminal file (RAP sheet) that is available in scores of internet locations. It doesn't matter at all the outcome, whether you were acquitted or convicted. Your arrest is a serious issue you will always have to confront, and it is available to anyone with anyone basic search, so the question is...do you admit upfront that you were arrested for DV? Tough call, since DV can preclude being employed at many types of health care facilities. You can obtain your own RAP sheet through the FBI, to determine IF your arrest was recorded. You can also go to nursys.com to see if your arrest has been recorded by a BON, and to hrs.com (search for The Date bank) to see if you have been recorded as not eligible to be employed in certain government funded health care facilities based on a complaint, or on a criminal record. There are also many other sites out there that employers use to determine backgrounds. And, alas- even if you can expunge your arrest record? You'll always to have declare that arrest to most future employers.

Alabama doesn't participate on nursys.com. Yes, it's on FBI files as an arrest and I know this because they ran a background check in nursing school. I'm going for a interview next week at an assisted living facility but heck no I'm not mentioning it. My applications didn't ask if I was arrested they asked was I ever convicted of a crime which I wasn't- it was dismissed. Expunging is illegal in Alabama

Hrs.com is a hotel site??

Hrs.com is a hotel website. Nursys.com does not provide for Alabama. Expunging is illegal in AL. I'm not bringing my arrest up to employers. The applications ask have you ever been convicted of a crime and I have not- it was dismissed. They applications didn't ask were you ever arrested. It's been 6 years ago and I have great references and background but just a arrest when I was 20 for arguing with my husband.

My background check in school did show my 06 arrest

It just depends on what the application asks. If it says have you even been convicted of any misdemeanor or felony charges, then no, don't report it. Anyone can falsely be arrested for anything. Trust me, I know. I too am from Alabama and have the same charges that you did. Mine were also thrown out because they were FALSE! When I was hired on with the hospital, it was never mentioned by them. Also, from the school's background checks, it was never brought up. I am glad to read your post because I just completed my application to AL BON and submitted my Case Action Summary/Disposition. I've been so worried that it was going to delay me getting my temporary or being able to sit for boards, as I have a job lined up that wants me in orientation asap. My advice is to let them to the background check. If it comes up, address it. Let them know the charges did not stand against you. If you have to answer some type of questionnaire before the background check, then answer it honestly. But it sounds like you've already completed general employment applications since you've had interviews.

You won't have a problem getting approved to take boards. I'm in southern AL. Where are you? Also, were you fingerprinted when you were arrested and WHAT YEAR WAS IT?!

Does anyone know how hard it is to get approved for VA BON? I have 2 misdemeanors from over ten years ago? I have all my documentation ready and will be honest and upfront on the app to sit for nclex but are they impossible? Does anyone know?

I have two misdemeanors from six years ago and i just finished submitting my documentation to the VA BON yesterday. This is just to take my state test to become a CNA. I'm hoping that I'm able to take it and it won't affect me down the line because I apply for nursing school in March.
