Asap Help!!!

Published

hi, lemme cut straight to the point

---> passed NCLEX-RN a month ago

---> left cover letter and resume to HR in hospital (there wasnt an opening and because of this they only took resume and cover letter)

---> after week there was a opening but they only accepted application during one week. and i noticed this late and came there 1 day late. the HR representative told me that they didnt accept application to RN position and she again accepted my RESUME and Cover LETTER

----> after a week (today) i noticed they started receiving applications again but the last date is tomorrow.

QUESTION: Should i go there, apply and leave my Resume and Cover letter (3rd time; previous ones was without application)?

Need answer ASAP

Thanks in advance.

Sure! Why not?

Definately, you'll find the one thing you can count on with a hospital HR is non-action. You have to be the aggressive one!

thank you for your reply

i will definitely go and apply for that job. and by the way im international graduate so what does "ROTATION" stands for on TOUR column?

does it means day shifts or night shifts? or where nurse needed?

Rotation means you work rotating shifts, meaning some of all the shifts. I suggest you check on specifics, as they might want you to work a specific number of nights and you can work them in a row which is easier on the body. Or they might have you rotating regularly with little control over your schedule, or rotating backward (nights to eves to days) which would be very hard on your body and could cause difficulty sleeping.

Congratulations on passing the NCLEX! I'm with the others; if you want this job, be aggressive. Some HR depts can be sooooo incredibly slow and inefficient.

I would leave the Resume and Cover letter as many times as it took to get the job I want. You might ask the HR department if there is any way you can tour the unit that you are putting you application in for. You might get to meet the manager and you can give her/him your Resume in person. That will give you a chance to get a feel for the unit. You may not want the job so bad after checking the place out. Best of luck.

Wow, what state are you in? I was practically hounded for 2 months by every hospital and agency in the state, I still get calls, maybe you need to look elsewhere.

thanks for your replies.

to JB2007: can u clarify the hiring process? HR->Nurse Recruiter->Director of Nursing-> then where?

because first time when i left my papers with out application i received letter from assistant nurse recruiter she wrote that my papers was forwarded to Directors of Nursing and interview MAY scheduled after reviewing. after that i didnt hear anything from her, i email her regarding interview but she didnt respond to me yet :-/

To: NYNurseRN: im looking job in NYC. i guess the obstacle is that i dont have ANY (like 0) experience in nursing.

I say go again and apply. What do you have to lose. Are you just try this one facilty? You know the say " don't put all your eggs in one basket"? basically don't just depend on an opening at just one facilty, get your resume and cover letter to as many hospitals as possible.

I have been shocked at how slow HR departments ofen have been when I've searched for work. If there is any way you can work around them to meet managers, do it as that could help out. I found after I had a few years experience, it was a whole different story when applying for work.

I do not understand the whole hiring process myself, especially in the large hospitals. However, what I would usually do is ask someone in HR if there is any way I could tour the unit that I was applying for (med/surg, tele, OB). I would tell them I was very interested in the position, but I wanted to meet some of the staff that works on that unit. HR would then call the unit director and ask them when a good time would be to meet with me to give me a tour. More often than not the unit director or the assistant would be the one to give me the tour. They would show me around the unit, ask me questions, I would ask questions, and at the end of the tour I would ask them if they would like a copy of my Resume. I would tell them how much I enjoyed the tour and I hoped to hear from them soon for a formal interview.

I do not know how it is around where you live, but around here it is good to ask for a tour/job shadow when applying for a position. More often than not you will get to meet the unit manager and then they have a face to put with the Resume.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
