Anyone use meditech computer charting?

The hospital where I am doing my student clinicals just started using the meditech system. It took me a few days to master it, but I think it makes things so much easier.

The only people I have ever worked with who like meditech are those who have never used anything else. There are MUCH better programs out there, but they are, no doubt, more expensive.

When I started in June at the hospital that I am at we had Meditech and I found it very easy to use once you got the hang of it. It was probably an older version but I guarantee it was easier, quicker, and more economical than what we have now which is charting by hand!! I would take the old Meditich over this any day and most of the nurses at the hospital loved it too!!

The hospital where I work and do clinicals uses Meditech. I personally like it much better than hand charting. I haven't had much experience with other systems. I know the hospital does regular updates to the system to keep things running smooth.

I hate it. We have had it 3-4 years. I would go back to paper any day anytime. In an emergency, It is hard to access the chart. Our facility is constantly adding screens for this and that piece of new info. we need to collect. (I know that we would have a new piece of paper for each thing instead if not for the computer). People in admin. who sit in offices think it is faster than paper. No Way! They do not want us to write in the notes section very often. It takes too much storage space. It does not interface w/ our L/D charting system (Watchild) which I do like. I am not a fan of Meditech.

I use meditech but it's just for looking up labs, placing orders etc. We still do "paper charting" otherwise.

I've used meditech before and found the assessment to be very long, tedious, and redundant. The command driven programs are not user friendly. Maybe it has improved since I last used it. I have not used any other programs, but I can tell you that paper charting is easier than the command driven meditech.

I'd rather paper chart than use Meditech any day. Instead of making charting faster, Meditech actually makes it slower (at least the cheapo version that I have used does)! McKesson makes a very user friendly program called Care Manager. It actually does make charting more efficient.

I love meditech, no problems, love it!
