Anyone starting on Jan 5th

Well I bit the bullet and decided to join the LPN class starting on Monday. I was originally set to start in May but the school that I am attending had so many students drop out of the January class that I got a call last week asking if I would like to start on Monday. I'm so nervous that I don't know what to do. I got my hunter green scrubs, white tennis shoes, paper, pens, pencils, notebooks, etc.. Is there anything special that I need for class that will help more be more successful, better time management, etc.? If anyone else is starting on Monday, what items did you purchase for class?

I start on Tuesday and I bought all the same school supply items plus a few binders, some highlighters, post it flags ( for marking the text book pages for easy finding. Label maker ( cuz I wanted one) I also bought a backpack with wheels, have my stethescope, watch, Fluids & Electrolytes Made Easy Book, a Palm Pilot with some drug calculation and nursing software. Have to wait to get my uniforms until after Tuesday when I get the information from them.

Take something to eat and drink just in case there is no cafeteria that is open (you never know!) and get there early. Read this thread by a last year LVN student who chronicled her year of practical nursing school from Day 1 to graduation and getting her license. https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-student/first-day-nursing-235170.html The first day is mostly orientation, learning who's who and what's what. Things move pretty rapidly in LPN schools and it is like being at a full time job.

Let us know how your day goes. Get as much rest as you can tonight and eat a good breakfast.

Jan 5 is my first day, too. I'm climbing the walls! Very eager to finally start after registering several months ago. I'd be interested in how everyone's first days go.

I'm interested in how everyone's first day goes as well. I'm going to post about my first day tomorrow. I am so nervous. I doubt I get any sleep tonight. Good Luck to you!!!

Best of luck to all you newbies beginning tomorrow. I will remember you all in my prayers tonite. I begin tomorrow also; my last semester and I will be a very old (55) RN in May. Hang in there and keep the faith. It is a very tough road, but if you work hard and remember you can sleep in a couple of years when it is over :nuke: you will do great. May you be sleeping soundly when the alarm goes off in the morn......Thinking of all of you as I retire for the nite.
