Any SAHMs?

My friend did a 1 year break when she had her second baby, but now she's back to work. I wish I can be SAHM, working plus baby has pretty much exhausted me since I went back from my leave...

When I got pregnant I had to stop working with how bad my pregnancy was. I just never went back to work after that. There are days I miss it & then there are days I never want to go back.

I'm a full time stay at home mom. I looked into work from home jobs but he's so young (9 months) that it's just not feasible.

I'm going back to school soon. I'm retaking most of my sciences because they expired. So in the fall I will start to retake them. Then in 2017 I will apply to a community college near me for the bridge program.

I did both. I tried to work from home and couldn't do it with a 2 yr old. Spent another 7 yrs at home as a straight SAHM.

I am not a nurse yet but I am a stay at home mom. My son will be 6 this year and starting Kindergarten and I also have 2 year old daughter. I have been lucky enough to be able to stay home with them from the time I was pregnant with my son. (Side note my husband is active duty AF so financially its better for us if I stay home with the kids.) But at the same time I have been in school since having my son. I am on the wait list for a program and in May will be able to apply for a program with in the program that allows me to get my bachelor's while I'm getting my associates and not have to wait to get into the nursing program.

I consider myself mostly a stay-at-home mom. I work per diem once a week or so. The kids are now 10 and 13. Once you get comfortable being home, and money isn't an issue, going back to work full-time is something that can be postponed.

I would never totally let go of nursing though. Even when the kids were babies, there always was time to fit in a shift of work here and there and leave the kids with their dad. We never had to pay for childcare, my husband got to do real childcare (as opposed to "babysitting") and he never had to ask the painful question "what do you do all day?" because he knew from first hand experience.

Not technically a SAHM but I did take a break from FT nursing and work PRN. So some weeks I may work 1 -2 days and occasionally I'll work 4 days. It works for us. I wouldn't want to quit completely because it may be hard to get a job quickly if my situation changed.

My story is a lot like Mrs.Treharne's. I was blessed to be able to be a SAHM from the time my first child was born, until my second child started school. That is when I went back to school and got my RN. It doesn't matter what you do, you will get ridiculed about it. Many people said to me "WHY on earth would you want to get another job when you have the perfect set-up?". I'm not very domestic, so I needed to do something that was good at. Anyway, that being said, I'm a big believer in staying home with your little ones if you can. They grow SO fast. Before you know it they will be graduating High School (like my oldest). You have a few precious years to be home with them, if that's what your desire is.... make the most of it. Nobody can love your kids like you do, so if you have the means to be with them... do it. Jobs, a career, self-actualization, whatever... will always be out there. Your kids wont. You only get one chance at this time in life.

Oh I forgot to say that I have a preschool age and school age child.
