I'm planning a shopping trip in a few weeks and on my list of must have items are a pair of shoes that provide good support. :) Can anyone recommend their favorite pair of shoes? Working over 12hours in bad shoes is miserable and I'm throwing my New Balance's to the curb. They are only good for 2-3 hours before my toes feel swollen and I have leg cramps.
I want to feel like I'm walking on a cloud for the entire shift, or close to it. Oh, and if the shoes look GREAT, that would be a plus too!
Thanks!

I have a friend who got a pair of those. He was wearing them yesterday. They were the ugliest things I have ever seen! (And I told him so.) He says they are the most comfortable pair of shoes ever!

Sanitas come in a wide variety of colors and leather styles. They are said to be wonderful, but I confess I have not worn them yet. I plan to in the near future, though.
Sanitas are made by the people who used to make Danskos before Dansko moved to Asian manufacturing. I don't know if they will meet your criteria for being cute, but I think they look pretty neat.

I like Sketcher Shape Ups they make work ones with no slip bottoms. They are super cushiony.

That was my laugh for the day!! I have never seen anything like that before! I wonder if they're comfortable though?

I love my landau comfort. They make my feet happy :)
I think I've seen someone with a pair of them on,but I didn't ask if they were comfortable. The soles were so thick I just imagined falling. Thanks! I'll look into them though. Anything beats having blisters and cramps!

I think shoes are different on the individual.
The only thing that works for me is changing my shoes mid-shift, and using a pain relieving cream when I switch.

I really like New Balance and Merrell. Never had a bad pair from either.
Whatever your footwear preference I just want you to know that the "guts" can break down before the shoes look dirty or worn. Depending on how much you wear them, how much you weigh, the quality of shoes of course the guts (heel, arch, foam around the ball of the foot) last only one to three months and you should replace them. Either the guts or the shoes.
Podiatrists can make custom orthotic inserts that you can remove and place in different pairs of shoes. Special attention is built into arch and heel support. They are 'spensive but for some people are absolutely worth it.
May I make a suggestion? Spenco, Dr. Scholls, FootSmart all have pretty good arch supports. There are some others and all pretty much equal quality.
Dr. Scholls has that new "foot mapping" at the pharmacy and places like WalMart. They provide a basic orthotic insert that has done wonders for me and the 8 to 10 12-hr shifts I like to pull straight. (That schedule can make my feet really sore). Supports have made a WORLD of difference. They're pretty inexpensive too. You can take them for a test drive and see what you think. The Dr. Scholls has a 60-90 day guarantee or your money back. Good luck.

If you're suffering from leg cramps after a few hours, you probably don't want a flat shoe; you more than likely need your heel raised slightly. Those Sanita clogs look like the right kind of shape, but personally I like an open back. The designs I saw look like they might irritate the back of the heel during a long shift.
