Agencies and contracts

  • Experts

Please pay attention to your contract before signing it. There is no such thing as a free green card. The money for it will be coming from your pocket, not the agencies. In most cases, there is about $5 per hour taken from you to cover the expenses. This works out to about $20,000 over two years. Expenses are about $4,000. You do the math.

The better way to do things, if you can afford it, is for you to pay the fees, and then you are in control, and can pick your attorney, etc. The facilities are normally paying a relocation fee that will cover your expenses.

Also, pay attention to what the cancellation fee is. If for some reason that you would need to leave your contract early, or the facility cancels you, you will be responsible for paying that fee. The document that you sign is a legally binding contract. And some contracts can be as high as $15,000 to $20,000.

If your recruiter makes a promise, but it is not written into your contract, then it doesn't exist. It must be in writing and signed off by the management of the agency. And oral promise will not mean anything, especially if your recruiter is no longer working for that agency later on.

First issue is to go for a state that will issue you a license without having a SSN#, if you do not know where you will end up working for sure.

Where do you want to work, then base it on that. If you want a state that requires the CGFNS exam with no way around that, then just go that route. Do your initial licensing there.

Do not go thru CA for initial licensure, you will be getting your results around Christmas time this year.

:typing Dear Sujanne Thanks a lot for the advice. i will decide accordingly for a state board to apply for.[CA-i guess is california.]-you are really very helpful-also i am using tips from your'NCLEX forum for my preparation.

hi, there really are bad agencies. please PM me one the agencies that you know are not to be trusted. So that I'd know if my agency is one of them. And so that I can tell my friends not to go to these kinds of agencies.

Thanks!

Sorry, but it does not work that way, there are no lists. You need to look closely at any contract, if it is not written there, it does not exist. It does not matter what the recruiter promises.

oh, I just read this in previous post so I though there was such.

One story that I can share is that of my friend's. The agency is taking almost $20 off their salaries. I really got sad when she told me.

Still praying that mine won't be that huge.

hi suzanne, i just wanna ask you about an agency that approached me online and then called me on my home no. they wanted me to check their company out and eventually sign with them. they told me that they will be paying for every exam that i will be taking, in my case NCLEX and IEALTS, and they will also pay for my review for NCLEX exam.if I passed then i can bring my family with me and a housing allowance of $600 a mo.i asked them if they'd deduct anything from my salary and they said they wouldn't. I already have my ATT from CaBON. is this agency any good? thanks =)

You may want to post in the "Questions for Suzanne4" thread to make sure she sees your question.

i asked them if they'd deduct anything from my salary and they said they wouldn't.
wow.

I wonder how this agency survives financially, footing all those bills.

Hello,

I am desperately in need of help and advice. I signed a contract with OGP almost 2 years ago. They sponsered me for NCLEX last year and i passed in the month of august 2005. I have also done my cgfns and ielts independently. My file right now is in NVC and will probably reach the embassy in the next 1-2 weeks. My problem is that my agent is now demanding that i sign an amendment to the original contract in order to proceed. They havent placed me in any hospital yet. According to the amendment, my cancellation fees is going to exceed 45000$ and they also want the spouse to sign as the guarantatoer for that money. It also states that in case of breech i will even pay form their attorney and other legal expenses. The cancellation fee in the initial contract was $20000 after reaching america and $8000 for breech before reaching there. I feel totally trapped. Is there anyone who can advice me???
