ADN?

Can a person with an ADN still get a job in this day and age? At the moment I can only afford to get an ADN and not due to the fact that I have little very money for school and I'm almost done with the pre reqs. And Also where can an ADN work at?

Sure. Where I am located there are still hospitals that do new grad programs for ADN new grads. I think you just need to sign something stating that you will get your BSN in the next XX years.

It depends on your state and if facilities in your area are hiring adn grads. in the future you could do RN to BSN if you want.

I have a similar question. I am graduating with my ADN at the end of this year. When I first started pre reqs hospitals seemed to still take ADN no problem and soon began to fade there after ...My question is ...how long did it take someone to find a job with ADN? I am from NY and the jobs are scarce in the urban areas without a BSN. Currently we live in Queens. My husband is a firefighter so legally we can't move out of state. We can however move upstate up to but not past Ulster county. We are looking into purchasing a house depending on where I land my job ( either living in LI or Upstate) . What were your experiences? My dream job is labor and delivery/nicu/postpartum if I have to ( anywhere maternity related )

@nick ADN is better than no ADN . Just make sure you have a plan of furthering your eduction at some point when you are done. Nursing is a great field to get into:)

This question can only be asked by researching your area. Usually rural areas are more open to ADN nurses, but there are jobs everywhere. The job might not be your dream job but there are jobs. You cannot say that ADNs are of no value in nursing. Currently over 60 percent of graduating nurses graduate with an associates degree. There are a lot of nurses out of work but it isn't just ADN nurses.

I was luck to get my dream job as an ADN right after graduation. I am pursuing my BSN now and am flourishing. All my classmates were working within 2 months of graduation.

This is the EXACT question I was about to ask! :) Hoping it gets great feed back!

You definitely can get hired as an RN with only an ADN. Now, I can't answer that question for your specific area of the country because I don't know where you're located. You should contact the HR depts of places you're interested in to find out what their requirements for new grad RNs are. Then you'll know for sure if an ADN will suffice or if you're going to need a BSN to land a job in your neck 'o the woods :)

to add I live in las vegas and a lot of jobs just say "Highschool diploma. Graduate from RN program." But it does'nt really say what degree you would need. Some said adn
