Hi. I have a bachelor's in psychology. It's been an emotional roller coaster in terms of finding an accelerated program. I was wondering if I got my associates in nursing if I would be able to get a job in some NY hospitals? I know a lot of hospitals are hiring bsn grads but since i have a bachelor's already does this help? Does anyone know any hospitals that still hire adn's? If no hospitals atleast some facilities that do. Id greatly appreciate the help!

What do you mean in terms of a roller coaster? I don't know how easy it is to get a job with just an associates in NY. I know on Long Island it's incredible tough.
I have but the programs are too expensive. I know I exhausted my loans and im only 25 I can't take out a loan and I have no cosigner. Ugh it's upsetting me.

If you're in the NYC metro area forget about it. Even BSNs are finding it incredibly difficult to find work. In more rural parts and upstate NY I've heard of ADNs having luck.
Ugh great. My backup choices are to go to school for sonography or becoming a lpn. I don't know what to do!!! I'm turning 25 and tired of the bs corporate jobs that pay crappy. And it's not rewarding not challenging. I'm getting depressed I don't know what to do anymore.
If loans are an issue go the ADN route and branch to BSN afterwards. Or look into scholarships.

As you've already read, BSN is preferred; ADNs can and do find work but there are SO MANY new grads, you need to do what you can to hedge your bets. A bachelor degree that is not in nursing is not of any use; BSN is what they are looking for.
That said, if you're willing to relocate, you CAN find work. You just have to move to do it. If you're 25 and not under some mandatory requirement to stay in NY.....why not consider that option?
Keep in mind, too, that over most of this country there is no shortage of nurses....so while you might find yourself in a rewarding career, you might also find yourself years from now wondering why you spent time and $ on nursing school only to have a crappy hospital job. Just spinning it the other way.
Good luck!
My sister works for hospital so getting a job is not an issue if I obtained my bsn. She said they won't hire me with a adn so that's the only reason why I am staying in NY. She works for a magnet hospital and is a manager for a cardiology department.

You could do an ADN... then a RN to BSN program immediately afterwards. Ask around about RN to BSN programs in your state... you might find that while a couple or a few have more applicants than spots, so there are waiting lists, competition ect, but there are then 2 or so universities where 100% of people who apply get in for the RN to BSN program.

What about federal loans, they dont exhaust until you use up 135.000 dollars of it. Hopefully, you wont need that much.

Isn't it up to 35k for unsubsidized and subsidized loans for an undergraduate degree? I will look into the link you provided. Thank you

Nope, it's much higher than that...I believe it's $57,500. I'm not sure if that's the EXACT figure, but I know the maximum borders $60k. The other option is the Perkins Loan. I don't know what your previous loan debt is, but if you didn't use any of your perkins loan (or only a small part), you still qualify for that as well. And lastly, did you use all your TAP? I know you're only allowed a certain amount of semesters, but if you haven't maxed out on your TAP (which I think is 8 semesters), you still qualify for that as well.
