OK. Start nursing school on August 23rd:

Prereq's - all done

Orientation - all done

Uniform - all purchased

Stethoscope etc. - all purchased

CPR certification - all done

Shots - all done

Background check - all done

Drugs test - all done

All paperwork - all handed in

Text books - all purchased

PDA software - all purchased & downloaded

Classes registered for, and schedule & childcare arrangements - all sorted out.

Phew.....everything is done and I can just relax for the next few weeks.....or so I thought....

Then I get a letter this morning from nursing school, saying that I now need to drop my Internet-based Pharmacology class (which we were told to sign up for during orientation), and register for a class-based course instead. OK - that's fine, a class-based course will be cheaper, and easy to fit in with my schedule. They even told me which class to sign up for - if I have Skills Lab on a Wednesday afternoon, then I need to sign up for the Pharmacology class on Wednesday morning......except that when I went to register online, there are 1. No seats left on the Wednesday morning Pharmacology class, and 2. This class will clash with one of my 2nd Bi-semester classes - which is a 'linked-section' class, meaning that I have to take the same section numbers for a number of different classes, so if I have to change that class, I have to change them all.......and I stayed up ALL NIGHT on registration night, just so I could get first-choice of classes that would fit in best with my kids (as I have very little childcare support), so having to change all my classes now will be a nightmare - because now I have very little choice, as all the most convenient classes will now be filled 3. Can I still take Pharmacology as an Internet course? No - this class has now been cancelled.

I've e-mailed my nursing coordinator - this must affect more students than just me, and hopefully (fingers crossed, toes crossed, everything crossed), it's just an oversight on their part (and there really ARE places, and they really ARE aware of the clash with the 2nd Bi-semester classes).....

I've heard rumours about the nightmarish disorganisation of nursing school, and I think it's just started to rear it's ugly head. By-the-way, the letter ended with (I quote) "Have a great remainder of the Summer! Relax and take advantage of the nice weather."

Oh that is terrible!!! I hope you are able to work everything out!

When I signed up for my CNA class they offered it full time for 3 weeks. I was able to arrange day care ( same problem as you) and got it all squared away. When I signed up, the class number was changed to a part time for 8 weeks class! They cancelled the full time one, which gave me one week to rearrange everything. What a nightmare. I hope you can figure it all out without overstressing yourself. Good luck!!!

I know exactly what you mean. Just when it seems things are all taken care of a curve ball gets thrown right your way. I will be starting my nursing program in on August 30 and do I have alot of things to get done between now and then. I have been up to the university twice this summer and have not gotten any closer to getting things accomplished.

*admissions- meet with advisor to verify that all credits from preveously attended universitys transfered over.

*meet with advisor- no b/c gone for the summer and will not return until 8/16

*awarded finacial aid- nope haven't recieved it yet

*CPR Certification- 8/21

*Register for class-after I see my advisor

*Purchase books- after I register for classes

*meet with chemistry department- need to find out if the chemistrys preveously taken will be equivalent to that of the university's

*meet with math department-need to find out if the maths preveously taken will be equivalent to that of the university

*Purchase uniforms- not yet

*Health form- Complete but not mailed

Consider your self lucky. My biggest task is scheduling appointments with each department (admissions, chemistry, math, finacial aid, registration, and nursing) all on the same day and getting things done. This isn't my first time transfering from one school to another so I am not new to the craziness:uhoh3: .

Well, it's Tuesday - and still no reply to the e-mail I sent my Nursing coordinator. Still, I know for sure that I am not the only one, so it's my guess that they are busy sorting out this mess before they contact us again! I'm feeling more relaxed about it though - it's more likely that the school will change their schedule, rather than having us change ours (I hope!),

which program are you in? May be if enough people are in the same situation, the class will be offered at a different time. There may be a pharmacology class offered through CCCOnline (hopefully that wasn't the one that was cancelled).

Go to the instructor who teaches this course you need and bed her to let you in. People do it at my school when classses are all full and teachers let them in.
