Has anyone completed Their RN-BSN at WGU and have any issues getting into an NP program? Live or online?

I am looking into possibly doing an NP program in California, New York, or Florida.

I may be looking into online NP programs as well.

Also, if anyone has completed an NP program online, what were your experiences finding work?

I checked with my preferred NP program before I applied to WGU, and they said they would accept it. I would recommend that you contact the school(s) you are interested in and make sure they will accept WGU before you apply. AFAIK WGU is accepted at most schools- they are a fairly well respected online program.

I asked if I could get a written eval to go along with my transcript, and they said they could do that for me.

Also- I personally have a bias against most online NP schools, mainly because I think it cheapens the NP credential. There are some awesome distance learning programs (Frontier comes to mind!), but there are also a ton of crappy ones that make it way too easy to qualify for licensure. If you can go to a brick and mortar school, I highly recommend it. Otherwise do your research and find a really good, well respected distance program with rigorous academics and clinicals.

I honestly would like to attend a live program for NP, but was looking at online just in case.Because I plan on moving to California for after my BSN and wanted options in case I did not get into a live program there. I will make a list of the schools and contact them and see. Also on the transcripts are the grades posted in letter or numerical value or does it just say P/F?

I was looking into the WGU program in Orlando (technically Daytona Beach area) but my concern was when I last spoke to them (pre-dec) they hadn't officially started the program. I believe at the time they were still gathering numbers. I was also looking at it for a friend who wanted to possibly move to Cali and she was from Orlando but when we spoke to admissions they were dissuading her from applying to the Cali program and that she'd have a better chance at the Orlando one.

I was told it would be P/F no scores. Another reason I was worried for future degrees (I've had the problem previously).

All the schools I spoke to had no problem with my BSN from WGU. About the online issue, most brick and mortar schools have a large portion of their program online. All the programs prepare you for the certification boards which are national. I spoke to multiple physicians who advised me it did not matter. One went as far to say that I should avoid the prestigious school nearby because many new NPs were coming out with large student loans.

you should not have a problem finding schools for you NP. once you get a chance there is a section i believe on the WGU site for the alumni in reference to graduate studies.it lists a variety of schools that will take the degree. if you have certain schools in mind just call them a head of time and asked will they approved. i live in florida and this is what i did prior to enrolling.
