Walden University has new FNP and AGNP Programs
The information was incorrect. There are tests in many of the classes.
-

Walden Class of February 2014 has had 100% pass rate of students who have taken boards so far!

Walden University - the latest on the FNP program
I don't know about Texas, but I do know Mark Hill as a classmate. WU has a challenging program and the first class starts clinicals in September. Students who transferred from many "known" programs are doing clinicals already and will graduate first. Every student who transferred from other programs have said the WU has a more organized program, more challenging program, and better instructors than the schools they previously attended. It is a good program, and like others, the more you put in it, the more you get out.

Maryville University or Walden University for FNP
I am finishing my fourth quarter at Walden, and start clinicals in September. I have worked full time and taken two classes every quarter. It is challenging, but this will allow me to complete it in 18 months. The program is challenging, and leisure activities have been abandoned until I can finish school (again).

GPA worriers for Frontier FNP program
I am finishing my fourth quarter at Walden, and I have multiple classmates who transferred from Frontier to Walden. It is challenging and until the clinical portion, your work schedule does not have to be altered, which is why it was my first choice. Check it out, and best wishes finding a school that is right for you.

Stay away from Walden University
First, there is not a published retention rate yet for the FNP program at Walden because it is new. The program is challenging, and I spoke with multiple MDs prior to starting an unknown program. All advised it did not matter where you went to school, only that you passed boards. Walden is a very challenging program, and not unlike other MSN programs which most have a large portion online. Also like other universities, finding your own preceptor is normal. Adult learners are supposed to be self motivated, and this program requires dedication. If I wasn't dedicated to learning, then being an NP would not be the right career choice.
-
Credibility of Walden University
There is a national standard on becoming an NP. Schools have to have accreditation for students to sit for board exams, the clinical practicum hours have to be minimum of 500, and the class requirements are the same. There is no school that is not for profit, the not for profit status is a tax classification only with how the schools spend their profit being the difference.

There are tests in patho, pharm, and advanced health assessment weekly in addition to the writing requirements, which are extensive.

Chosing between two schools for FNP program
I have just finished my third quarter of Walden's FNP program. The program is challenging and the teachers are excellent. The student does have the responsibility of finding preceptors. I have no knowledge of Georgetown or their program, but I am very pleased with Walden.

Walden is CCNE accredited. Individual states can have different clinical requirements.
- Herzing University FNP program?

Direct Entry MSN Programs 2013
I spoke to several MDs who told me it is not the school that matters, it is passing the board. Highly recognized school NPs take the same board as the others, and are in no higher demand than any other.

Direct Entry MSN Programs 2013
Have you looked at the new programs? Many people do not know that South U, Herzing, and Walden U all added online programs this year. South is only available in some states though. Keep looking. Walden still accepting applicants for September. I did not apply to any except online schools because it works with my work schedule. They all have the same accreditation, and Walden is 1/3 the cost of Vandy.

Those that have taken CEN - a few questions
klmfbp3, I studied my ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC provider manuals. I bought a review book that had a test with it. Any answers I got wrong led me to study that topic more indepth. I did take a review class, but do not believe it was beneficial. Good luck!
